Location: Leaf Trust Shared Services Hub (Cadbury Heath Primary School, BS30)
Salary: Grade 9, £28,624 - £31,067 FTE per annum (Actual Salary based on weeks worked and hours: £15,355.82 - £16,666.40 p.a.)
Contract: Fixed Term until 31/08/2026, subject to staffing review. While this role is initially fixed term; it could lead to a permanent post at the end of the fixed term period for the right person.
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, worked across a minimum of three days, term time only including INSET days plus one week during the summer holidays at the end of term 6 to tie up any loose ends (40 working weeks per year).
The central HR office operates between 8.30 am and 5.00 pm, and the exact working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate. A 30-minute unpaid lunch break applies where the working day is more than 6 hours. As the Trust continues to grow, there may be opportunities for additional hours in the future.

The Role
Are you an organised and proactive HR professional looking for a part-time, term-time plus role where your expertise directly supports schools? Are you an experienced HR Assistant or Administrator seeking a new challenge in a growing multi-academy trust? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
This role offers the opportunity to shape and develop HR practices in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. As a Trust HR Assistant, you will report directly to the Head of HR and work closely with both the Head of HR and the Associate HR & Recruitment Officer in delivering a high-quality, efficient, and people-focused HR service across The Leaf Trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruitment – Support the Associate HR & Recruitment Officer in preparing and advertising vacancies, producing engaging recruitment packs, and advising schools on best practice recruitment processes. Proactively build the Trust’s talent pool by networking with local universities, attending careers fairs, and developing external partnerships to raise the Trust’s profile and attract high-quality candidates.
- HR Advice & Support – Provide first-line HR advice and guidance to School Business Managers and Headteachers, offering practical support on day-to-day queries and Trust processes. This enables them to make informed decisions and liaise directly with staff at school level with confidence and consistency.
- HR Administration – Prepare and issue contracts and offer letters, maintain accurate HR records and systems, and keep the employee benefits platform up to date.
- Policy & Compliance – Ensure the Single Central Record for the central team is kept accurate and up to date. Support wider compliance by contributing to internal audits and assisting with policy development and reviews.
- HR Projects & Systems – Assist with the implementation of the Trust’s new HR Information System (HRIS), support TUPE processes for new schools joining the Trust, and contribute to ongoing system and process improvements.
- Training & Communication – Contribute to the HR induction of new School Business Managers, Headteachers, and central team members. Maintain and update HR-related content on the Trust’s SharePoint site to ensure accessibility and consistency.
- Formal Meeting Support – Provide administrative support for formal HR meetings, including scheduling, preparing paperwork, and taking accurate minutes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong administrative skills to support the Trust Head of HR.
- Proactive and innovative self-starter with effective communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload independently in a busy office environment.
- Comfortable working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
- Friendly yet assertive in ensuring adherence to safer recruitment processes and other processes and procedures.
- Proficient in IT, with a positive customer service ethic and keen attention to detail.
- Solution-focused and adaptable to change.
- Quick learner.
