Catshill Middle School is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Leader (Level 3) to join our vibrant and supportive school community. You will play a vital role in nurturing students’ wellbeing, promoting positive behaviour, and ensuring that every child feels valued and supported.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the educational plan agreed with teaching staff:
● Supervise the activities of individuals or groups of children to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical and emotional development.
● Monitor the needs of individual pupils and, in conjunction with teaching staff, to develop appropriate measures to acknowledge progress and achievements, overcome problems and to facilitate physical, emotional and education development of pupils and groups of pupils.
● Liaise with teaching staff, pastoral leaders, SENDCO, DSL and parents in order to plan for, track and monitor key identified students.
● Analyse the behaviour of pupils, meet their needs and work with them effectively.
● Provide a safe and calm environment where pupils can de-escalate and can then be re-engaged in the business of learning.
● To support pupils in lessons or creatively differentiate their work to be completed in a more bespoke environment.
● To deliver our behaviour programme and facilitate some lessons within our pupil support room.
● To deliver small group support sessions promoting self regulation and behaviour management.
● To supervise small groups at break and lunch time, offering a safe and supportive environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
● Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a related discipline (e.g., Counselling, Childcare, Education).
● Experience of working with children and young people in an educational setting.
● Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate and resilient nature.
