Purpose:

The Pastoral Manager will support and facilitate the personal development and academic progress of children by managing day-to-day pastoral matters. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of attendance, safeguarding, and behaviour management, where you will oversee early intervention support for vulnerable pupils. You will be leading the delivery of personalized pastoral interventions while working with the Assistant Head Pastoral and other senior leaders to ensure a safe, inclusive, and high-quality service for our community.

Duties (further details in the attached application pack):

  • Manage day-to-day pastoral matters, including attendance, behaviour and safeguarding, to support children's personal and academic progress.
  • Lead on attendance and punctuality for an assigned caseload, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely intervention.
  • Identify, plan and deliver personalised and group pastoral interventions for vulnerable pupils.
  • Help children adhere to school behaviour expectations and implement policies, which may involve being firm and direct.
  • Act as a designated safeguarding officer, maintaining detailed records on CPOMS and ensuring a culture of listening to children.
  • Engage in multi-agency work and attend child protection case conferences to meet the needs of the most vulnerable children.
  • Establish constructive relationships with parents and carers through routine communication and attendance at key school events.
  • Act as a source of pastoral advice and expertise for staff while modelling best practices in confidentiality and data protection.
