For Easter 2026

Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form is an Outstanding, World Class School with high expectations, encouraging our students to be aspirational with their learning and to enjoy all aspects of school life. We are looking to appoint an innovative, strategic and well qualified leader to the role of Head of Lower School, to join our highly effective Senior Leadership Team.

We are a warm and friendly school, and passionately believe that every student matters. Our successful candidate will build excellent relationships with students and their families, as they begin their TGS journey. You will be responsible for developing the vision, strategic planning and delivery of achievement, behaviour and pastoral care at key stage 3. There is also the truly wonderful work with student voice and our whole school celebrations and rewards.

Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form is a thriving community school with a healthy and open attitude to progress and change. Our Academy school provides a purposeful learning environment for both students and staff, celebrating creativity, independence, resilience and empathy. Our greatest assets are our students and staff.

Our Ideal Candidate

You are an established leader or manager with the proven ability to develop and implement a strategic vision. Your personal values clearly align with the ethos and aims at TGS, ‘Let your light so shine - Be the best you can be’. You have commitment, creativity and energy to be part of a team, keen to learn and grow. We welcome candidates with experience outside of these areas, however you must enjoy working with young people, colleagues and parents and be committed to the continuous improvement of people and systems, always willing to go that extra mile.

You are a committed team player, polite and respectful to others, someone who understands the importance of strong and supportive working relationships. You are open to new ideas, you are positive, solutions focused and committed to your own personal continuous development. Of course, you are resilient and have a great sense of humour, as you never give up.

Our successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher to ensure that the highest standards of behaviour, learning and academic attainment prevail across the school and in maintaining and extending the school’s reputation for outstanding pastoral care. You will work with the Headteacher to establish key strategic goals for the Academy, which will themselves be set within the framework of the TGS School Development Plan.
