Tolworth Girls’ School & Sixth Form is a thriving, oversubscribed and proudly inclusive community. We are seeking an inspiring, forward thinking Subject Lead of Physical Education to join our successful Practical Arts faculty. This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious teacher to shape the strategic direction of PE and champion a culture of excellence across all key stages.

The Role

As Subject Lead of PE, you will:

• Provide clear, purposeful leadership to a committed and enthusiastic team

• Drive high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across the department

• Secure strong student progress through high expectations, effective use of data and targeted intervention

• Lead the ongoing development of a dynamic, ambitious and inclusive curriculum

• Inspire students of all abilities to enjoy PE, develop their skills and understand the importance of fitness, health and wellbeing

• Oversee and expand a vibrant extra curricular and enrichment programme

This post holder will work closely with the Subject Lead of Dance and be line managed by the Director of Practical Arts. This post is full-time, permanent. The start date is flexible, starting at the latest September 2026.

About You

We are looking for a colleague who is:

• An excellent classroom practitioner with the ability to teach PE across KS3–KS5

• Passionate about Physical Education and able to communicate that enthusiasm to students

• Experienced in curriculum design, assessment and raising attainment

• A collaborative and supportive leader with a clear vision for the subject

• Committed to contributing to the wider life of the school and upholding our ethos of high expectations, inclusivity and ambition

Candidates with a full, clean driving licence who are able to drive the school minibus are particularly desirable, as this supports the PE team in attending local events and fixtures within the Kingston borough. Candidates are also expected to hold a valid first aid qualification or be willing to undertake training provided upon appointment.
