Tolworth Girls’ School & Sixth Form

MPS/UPS + TLR currently £5389.00pa | Outer London

Permanent Full-time

Required for September 2026

Tolworth Girls' School & Sixth Form is a World Class School with high expectations, encouraging our students to be aspirational with their learning and to enjoy all aspects of school life. We are looking to appoint an exceptional Subject Leader of Design & Technology to lead and drive forward an ambitious, innovative D&T curriculum.

This post offers an excellent opportunity for a well qualified and committed practitioner to take the next step in their career. We are seeking a highly motivated professional with a genuine passion for Design & Technology, the ability to teach confidently across specialisms, and the vision to lead a thriving subject area.

About the Role

The successful candidate will:

• Provide strategic leadership for Design & Technology across Key Stages 3–5

• Lead curriculum development, assessment, and quality assurance within the department

• Model outstanding classroom practice and support colleagues in developing their expertise

• Teach across a range of D&T disciplines with creativity, confidence and adaptability

• Contribute to extra curricular opportunities that enrich students’ learning

• Champion innovation, practical learning and high standards of achievement

A specialism in Food would be highly desirable, and the ability to deliver high quality Food Preparation & Nutrition lessons will be considered a strong advantage.

We currently deliver Product Design and Food Preparation & Nutrition across KS3, 4 and 5. Year 7 and 8 students follow a carousel system and complete two projects during the year, so you may also be involved in teaching other areas of D&T. Our exam boards are AQA GCSE Product Design, AQA Food Preparation and Nutrition and AQA A Level Product Design WJEC AAQ in Food Science and Nutrition. The ability to teach up to A Level/Key Stage 5 is essential.

This post is full time, permanent, and required for September 2026. Pay scale is MPS/UPS Outer London + TLR. This role may be suitable for an ambitious teacher ready to step into leadership within a supportive and well structured environment.

If you are a passionate educator looking to make a significant impact in a thriving and supportive school, we would love to hear from you.

Closing date: 9am, Monday 3 March 2026
