About Us

Welcome to West Town Lane Academy. We are a 480 place Primary School taking children from the ages of 4 to 11 years "where learning is an adventure." We will expand to a 510 place Academy in September 2013, providing additional places for local families. Our school prides itself on the opportunities it offers children, providing a rich and broad curriculum. We ensure that in addition to the statutory curriculum, we offer enrichment activities, theme days, extra-curricular activities and residential experiences for children that provide an 'all round' education. We are very proud of our 'Rights Respecting School' status, and are keen to ensure that children leave our school knowing their responsibilities towards others.

The school aims for high standards and expects excellent behaviour at all times and in all aspects of school life. We hope you will support this, sending your child to school in correct uniform each day and ensuring good communication between us. West Town Lane Academy is strongly committed to protecting and safeguarding children, and expects all staff, parents and volunteers to embrace this commitment.

We are proud of our school and our pupils’ achievements. Our 2022 outcomes are strong and continued a consistent trend of success. We pride ourselves on the warmth of our school community, the richness of our educational offer and the very high quality of the staff who work here.

The school is situated in Brislington, Bristol. It first opened its doors in 1956; the site then housed an Infant and Junior school. The schools amalgamated in 2006 and became West Town Lane Primary. Then, in 2012, became one of the region’s first Standalone Academies. We see ourselves as a community school in nature and we always work closely with other local schools and the Local Authority.

Our Values

We have five main values which underpin our vision for the children at West Town Lane.

• Respect – We respect each other’s rights. We treat others as we like to be treated.

In order to achieve these goals, we provide a stimulating and vibrant environment with a focus on high academic standards and personal growth. Children begin their learning journey by focusing on our locality. We then use this knowledge to help them understand the wider world. At every opportunity, the curriculum encourages children to follow lines of enquiry.
