I am extremely proud to be Executive Headteacher of Wigston Academies Trust.
We are formed of Wigston Academy, which concentrates on Key Stages 3 and 4 Wigston College, which delivers Key Stage 5.
We are based at the heart of the vibrant, hardworking and confident community that is the Leicestershire town of Wigston. The whole point of our existence is to make sure that our children are safe, successful and happy. Our motto is ‘Learn, Aspire and Achieve’ and we believe that bringing this about for every young person in our care will lead to them having happier and more successful adult lives.
We are very proud of our young people and we love having them here. Sometimes we might not get this right and that is why we place such a premium on the feedback we receive from our children; our parents and our community. Each young person in our Trust is part of a tutor group and the tutor is at the heart of everything we do so, whenever you need to talk about your child, whether it is to voice concerns or share good news, please contact this person.
We believe that not only will we provide the very highest standards of academic experience and learning but that we also have an exciting and enriching extra curriculum, which greatly contributes towards academic success but much more vitally helps form and develop admirable and decent citizens of the future through the sporting, creative and expressive experiences we provide.
As a growing Trust we welcome other schools to join with us so that we can safeguard education in Wigston from 11 to 19 for generations to come. If you are a parent who is considering sending your child to a trust school, then please come and visit us. We have nothing to hide and lots we’d love to show you.
Yours faithfully,
Mark Mitchley
Executive Headteacher
Wigston Academies Trust is part of the newly formed campus of schools, which opened in September 2015. The Trust incorporates Wigston Academy and Wigston College. Our distinctive school badge links the school to Wigston Magna representing as it does the steeples of All Saints and St. Wistan Churches, recalling the town’s former name of “Wigston of two steeples”. We are extremely proud of our links with the local community, both in the past and in the present. The priority of the schools is to provide the highest quality education for every child within a safe, caring and orderly environment.
To this end we are committed to meeting the needs of children by working in partnership with parents and by providing a wealth of experience and opportunities to encourage every child to achieve their full potential, be confident, responsible, independent and well educated individuals able to fulfil positive roles in society and to have a successful future. Our aspirations for the children are aptly summarised in our school motto “Learn l Aspire l Achieve” Everyone at Wigston Academies Trust makes every effort to provide each child with the necessary care and support so that they feel safe, happy and be successful.
In order to keep up with a dramatic rise in student numbers and further planned expansion, the Trust is recruiting in a number of areas.
Do you want to come and join us?
We only have one rule:
do right for our students. They come first and we are united in our work to give them the best possible deal at school.
Several of our posts are vacant due to promotion, including to headship and senior leadership. If you are ambitious and want to take your career further, we might be the Trust for you. If you are happy in the classroom and want to develop as a teacher without taking additional responsibility, then we would love to hear from you too. It is just as important for us to get the right support staff colleagues and you’d get the same warm welcome and support.
Wigston Academies Trust is made up of Wigston Academy (11-16) and Wigston College (16-19).
Both were rated strong good in our last OFSTEDs in May and June 2022.
