Assistant Head of Year

Required as soon as possible

Permanent across the 11 to 16 campus

37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Grade 7: £19,500 - £21,055 (£22,781 - £24,056 FTE)

We are looking to appoint an Assistant Head of Year to join our current pastoral team, in supporting a Head of Year (HOY) in ensuring all students achieve their full potential.

The focus of the role will be to provide academic, emotional and behavioural support, and to deputise for the HOY when required.

Good communication and organisational skills are essential, as is a commitment to inclusivity, equal opportunities and widening participation.

You will preferably have experience in working with children and young people and working in a pastoral role. You will have knowledge of how to motivate and engage young people, knowledge of how they learn, and how to resolve conflict and manage challenging behaviour.

We value our staff and believe in them. We offer you training and support to develop, along with a friendly and supportive team of colleagues to work with too.

Wigston Academies Trust is made up of Wigston Academy (11-16) and Wigston College (16-19). Both were rated strong good in our last OFSTEDs in May and June 2022. In each of our schools our pastoral care, our advice and guidance, and above all student behaviour, are rated as strengths.

We only have one rule: That you care about our students. They come first, and we are united in our work to give them the best possible deal at school.

If you want to know more please come and visit. You will be very welcome and we think you will like what you see.

Closing date for applications: 10am Thursday, 28th September 2023

Interview date: TBC

Only applicants who meet our selection criteria will be invited to an interview.
