Assistant Senior Learning Support Assistant 

JOB OVERVIEW

Duties include supporting the Senior LSA to co-ordinate support for SEN pupils. The successful candidate will have knowledge and awareness of a variety of approaches to supporting learning, alongside experience of similar work. You will be adaptable and resourceful, have excellent communication skills, be able to work as part of a team and have strong IT skills. As Assistant Senior Learning Support Assistant you will lead by example and bring out the best in others. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Term Time Hours - 8.00am to 4.00pm 35 hours per week over 5 days.
  • Working with a wide range of class teachers to deliver excellent teaching and learning.
  • Coaching children on a 1:1 basis.
  • Accompanying groups on trips.
  • Supporting assessment and evidencing learning
  • Maintaining a safe and positive environment for all learners
  • Creating opportunities for all learners to reach their potential, irrespective of ability
  • Assist in the support and inclusion of children with special educational and behavioural needs including disability and medical needs 
  • Support the Senior LSA in carrying out his or her duties in supervise/co-ordinate the work and time of the other learning support assistants, ensuring consistent practice.

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above.
  • A minimum of two years' experience of working with children is desirable but not essential (either paid or unpaid capacity) preferably in a secondary education setting.
  • Experience of working with pupils with a variety of complex needs and finding learning difficult, is also desirable
  • a proven ability to work on their own initiative.
  • a high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adults.
  • the ability to use relevant technology/equipment.
  • a can-do attitude.
  • Willingness to work constructively within a team. Motivate, challenge team members to work independently with little support as required.
  • a commitment to the happiness well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school.
