Vision and Values

Our Mission

We empower every student to discover their potential, embrace opportunities, and achieve success. Through high expectations and strong support, we equip our learners with the knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Our Vision

We are driven by a clear purpose: to nurture ambitious, compassionate and resilient young people who contribute positively to society.

Our core values — Attitude, Stewardship, Pride, Integrity, Resilience, Enjoyment and Success — underpin everything we do. We encourage our students to live these values each day, shaping their character and future.

Our Ethos

We are a vibrant, inclusive community where every student is known, valued and inspired to excel. We believe that success is built on respect, kindness, and a strong sense of belonging.

By fostering curiosity, creativity and a love of learning, we create an environment where students are confident to explore their passions, overcome challenges and celebrate achievements.

Our Commitment

We are committed to developing well-rounded individuals equipped with the academic foundation and personal skills to flourish.

Our rich, broad curriculum ensures every student builds strong literacy and numeracy skills while discovering new interests and talents. We work in partnership with families and the wider community to support each student’s wellbeing, academic progress and personal development, preparing them for lifelong success.

Most staff say that they feel well supported by leaders and are proud to work at the school. Governors are actively involved in school life. They share the headteacher’s vision for the school. For example, they consider the well-being of staff and work with leaders on key issues, such as behaviour.

About Us

Winchcombe School is a friendly 11-16 comprehensive academy school located in a spectacular location in the Cotswolds. We pride ourselves on the personal touch, catering for the needs of all individuals both from a pastoral and academic point of view. Each student is given the opportunity to maximise their potential. Our facilities have improved considerably during the period 2020/2021. We have invested in new technology and use Bromcom for students to check their timetable, attendance and homework from school or home. Parents sign into the incorporated system (My Child at School) to receive messages, see what homework is being set, check their child’s attendance and progress and pay into their dinner money account or for equipment, trips etc.

We are also delighted to have good links with the local community.

The school employs approximately 80 staff, including Teachers, Teaching Partners, other support and admin staff. MiQuill Catering offer freshly-cooked meals in the school canteen at break and lunchtime daily and also provide breakfast before school.

All staff are encouraged to undertake regular training to keep their CPD up-to-date and regularly share ideas and resources with each other to improve good practice.
