Welcome to Cathedral Primary School

A message from our Headteacher

Welcome to Cathedral Primary School,

We are delighted that you have chosen to visit the Cathedral Primary School website.

Cathedral Primary School is a unique primary school in the heart of Bristol, which opened in September 2013 and now acts as a feeder school to Bristol Cathedral Choir School on the adjacent site. Our main school building is located on College Square, in the lower levels of the historic Bristol Central Library.

Our beautiful Grade I listed building is currently undergoing some necessary repair work. As such, for the 23/24 academic year we will be operating as a split site school. EYFS and Year One children are now based at a separate location, known as the Brandon Hill Site, located nearby on Queens Parade. Children in Years Two to Six continue to be based in the main school building.

We aim to provide an outstanding education for children across the Bristol area. As part of Cathedral Schools Trust, Cathedral Primary School forms part of a new family of state funded schools for children aged 4 to 18.

We are proud of our innovative and creative curriculum which takes full advantage of the wonderful resources surrounding the school to enrich children’s learning opportunities. Our curriculum is carefully planned to support children’s natural curiosity with a strong emphasis on the music curriculum as part of this experience.

We have a clear sense of values alongside a close relationship with parents, which supports and challenges all children to reach their full potential. We are proud of the fact that we are a very caring community. Parents are very supportive of the school and each other; working with the staff to ensure the best for their children.

Our Vision and Values

123321.png

At Cathedral Primary School, our Christian vision is rooted in compassion and equality. We celebrate the many voices of our diverse community and how they come together to create one harmony. This is underpinned by the biblical verse:

‘though we are many, we are one body in union, celebrating the fact we all have different gifts and talents to use’ (Romans 12:5).

As a Church of England School, we enjoy stories which promote our values from the bible and beyond, respecting and celebrating all religions and worldviews. Our unique setting in the heart of Bristol means that our community is endless; we welcome all cultures and traditions and strive to share a common understanding and love for the world. Our values enable the whole school community to achieve our vision. They are for everyone; all faiths and none.

Our values are promoted through all aspects of daily life at our school; collective worship, pastoral care, our interactions in learning and play, and through our curriculum.
