Welcome

Welcome to Nonsuch High School for Girls. The school opened in May 1938 and remains a selective school for girls aged between 11 and 19. It was named after the ‘unequalled’ Palace built 400 years ago by Henry VIII and stands on the edge of Nonsuch Park in 22 acres of grounds. Our historical connections and beautiful surroundings give Nonsuch a very special combination of heritage and progress; we value our past while planning for an even better future.

At Nonsuch, each student is valued as an individual and encouraged to reach her highest level of academic and personal achievement whilst remaining aware and respectful of the needs of others.

As one of the top girls’ schools in the country our whole community is justifiably proud of a tradition of high aspiration and academic achievement. We take just as much pleasure in the warmth and fun of the atmosphere here and the inspiring range of extra-curricular opportunities available to students.

We also celebrate the importance that values, social responsibility and reflection hold within school.

This is a happy place and an environment in which relationships built on understanding and respect are forged. Our ambitions for the girls are wide-ranging but we know that the most lasting future successes will be based upon their developing confidence and an open-minded and creative approach to life and learning.

AIMS & VALUES

2.jpg

The School's aim is to empower our young women and enrich their lives to ensure they aspire to take their centre stage place in the world. We want students to enjoy learning, to become independent and effective learners and to achieve academic success in an atmosphere that fosters positive relationships and mental health, promotes equality and celebrates diversity.

Our curriculum is broad and balanced; it provides intellectual challenge, develops creativity and curiosity and empowers our students to articulate their thinking confidently. The curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities promote social and cultural enrichment and a strong sense of community. The advice and guidance enables students to make wise, informed and ambitious choices.

We promote the values of positivity, respect, integrity, courage and endeavour. We want our students to engage with the local and wider community in the belief that they can make a difference.

Girls' Learning Trust

Welcome to the Girls’ Learning Trust. We were formed in September 2015 and currently consist of three high-performing girls’ schools: Nonsuch High School for Girls, Wallington High School for Girls and Carshalton High School for Girls. All three schools are located in the London Borough of Sutton.

As the largest all-girls multi academy trust in the UK, we have over 4,500 students aged 11-18 and almost 500 staff. We have a financial turnover of £30m and operate over three large sites.

Our aim is to empower girls and young women by delivering a first-class education and providing an inspirational start to their futures.

Working For Us

Our philosophy enables each school and our shared services to develop their own identity and vision, which also means each has its own distinct set of values and culture. But there are some common features to working in any role with us:

  • A passionate and dedicated staff team who believe in the transformative power of education, and take pride in the positive impact their roles have both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • A team of problem solvers who constantly figure out ways to help pupils achieve better outcomes, tackling challenges both big and small together.
  • A fun and empathetic environment: staff who support and take care of each other, bringing a sense of humour to the workplace.
  • A commitment to professional development: we are proud of our culture of promoting GLT staff within and across our trust and have an excellent record of developing outstanding staff and preparing them for senior leadership.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and wellbeing: we operate a rigorous recruitment procedure that includes DBS, medical screening and confirmation of qualifications. And we are committed to ensuring this remains our top priority.
