Overview

Riverbridge is a three form entry primary school, based in Staines, taking 3 classes per year group from Reception (aged 4-5yrs) all the way up to Year 6 (aged 10-11yrs), and also benefits from its own Nursery, taking children from aged 2yrs. Riverbridge is set on two sites; our Nursery, Reception & Year 1 are on our Knowle Green site and Years 2 to 6 are on our Park Avenue site.  Whilst each site is self-contained with their own playgrounds, lunch halls and offices, the sites are easily accessed via a pedestrian path that leads from Park Avenue to Burges Way.

From Autumn 2016 we were delighted to become part of the Lumen Learning Trust joining our partner schools, Saxon Primary in Shepperton and The Echelford Primary in Ashford.  The starting point for Riverbridge's learning environment is the child and we work to 'craft' the provision around their individual needs.  In this way we can be confident that we are ensuring the right opportunities are made available to enable every child to excel and genuinely achieve their full potential.

The starting point for Riverbridge's learning environment is the child and we work to 'craft' the provision around their individual needs.  In this way we can be confident that we are ensuring the right opportunities are made available to enable every child to excel and genuinely achieve their full potential.

Our teaching team benefits from the strengths and skill set from colleagues from all three schools with the addition of Leadership Consultants centrally appointed by the Trust itself.   Across the three schools we have 9 Specialist Leaders of Education and our Executive Principal, Mrs. McCarthy, is an accredited National Leader of Education and a serving Ofsted inspector.  Our Vision Building a firm foundation that inspires every child to aim high and exceed their own expectations on their journey to successful adulthood.

Lumen Learning Trust

The Lumen Learning Trust was established in Autumn 2013 as a natural development of the school-to-school support carried out by the leadership team at Saxon Primary.  It currently consists of three member schools: Saxon Primary School in Shepperton, The Echelford Primary in Ashford, and Riverbridge Primary in Staines-upon-Thames - all in the Surrey borough of Spelthorne.

In February 2010 Saxon’s leadership and management achieved an Outstanding judgement at Ofsted and began to support vulnerable schools both locally and further afield.  In doing so, Saxon’s team were drawing on their own experience of taking Saxon from a school in Special Measures (2007) to a school in such a position of strength that it gained sponsorship status from the DfE in June 2013 and was designated a National Support School by the National College for Teaching & Leadership in September 2013.   Our support for other schools is enhanced by the experience and skills of a number of our team; we have 9 accredited Specialist Leaders of Education on the teaching team and our Executive Principal, Mrs. Mary Ellen McCarthy is a National Leader of Education and a serving Ofsted inspector.

We believe education is the 'engine room' to a strong economy.  Schools are therefore duty-bound to do all they can to enable their pupils to acquire a relevant and rounded repertoire of skills which enables them to grow into happy, fulfilled adults who can enjoy real choice regarding how they live their lives and who understand their responsibility in terms of supporting the wider community.

We understand primary schools are the beginning of this journey and so we have a particular part to play in securing these positive outcomes.

Our Vision

Lumen Learning Trust puts the children's needs at the heart of its provision. We are committed to enabling children become successful lifelong learners and happy, fulfilled adults who can make positive choices about their future.

We are committed to supporting and collaborating with other schools in the development of learning and leadership to create a stimulating and rewarding environment for the whole community.
