About Us

St Werburgh’s Primary School is a popular inner city primary school that is at the heart of the local community. It caters for children aged 4 –11 years old. The school reflects the wide range of cultures present in the community and has a vibrant and inclusive feel.

The school opened in September 1999 and is situated in a central area of the city of Bristol called St Werburgh’s.

Whilst most children come to St Werburgh’s Primary School from the local area, some travel from the adjacent areas of Easton, St Paul’s, and Montpelier.

We believe that to be a successful learner children need to develop an understanding of themselves and the world in which they live. We provide a culturally inclusive curriculum that will equip our young people with skills to become lifelong learners.

Our school is focused on learning and we celebrate our children’s achievements each and every day.

We are committed to ensuring strong and supportive partnerships with our Parents and Carers.

Our Ethos, Vision and Values

Together Towards Excellence

St Werburgh’s is a Rights Respecting School and our vision is that all of our community:

  • Take responsibility for themselves
  • Take responsibility for each other
  • Take responsibility for their learning

Our vision is…

  • All children leave St Werburgh’s with their life chances enhanced.
  • They have a love of learning and are confident communicators.
  • They are secure in their sense of self and belonging.

Our school is a special place and we invest in the members of our community:

  • We have high aspirations for all children and encourage our children to have high aspirations for themselves.
  • We respect the right of all children to learn and consider ourselves privileged to be responsible for enabling this. We respect each other and the environment in which we work.
  • We forge strong and supportive partnerships with parents and carers and each other.
  • We celebrate the beliefs of others and the cultural diversity of our school community.
  • We are resilient and willing and able to learn from our mistakes.
  • Kindness is very important to us and underpins all that we do.
  • We are energetic and enthusiastic in our participation and work together to uphold and protect our vision and values.

In order to live out our values we commit to ensuring a broad, inclusive curriculum with a wide variety of opportunities and experiences so that all children can find their interests and talents and pursue their curiosities with delight.
