STEP Teaching School Alliance

10 schools in Leicestershire who had worked together over a decade, decided to apply to be an educational academy partnership in 2012 called STEP.  We saw this as a logical development of a successful support partnership.  Focused on primary education, we comprise five 'outstanding' schools, four measured as 'good' by OFSTED and one as 'satisfactory' working towards 'good', having around 1500 children on our joint rolls. Our strength is in our diversity with small rural schools and larger urban primaries all working together to improve educational outcomes.

With changes in what the local authority was able to offer us, we worked together on leadership development, CPD training, school to school support and developing a creative curriculum amongst other topics both in and outside of Leicestershire. Some of us have also supported schools outside STEP through the local authority and the National College.

This collaborative approach has worked so well for us that we decided to apply for teaching school status in this last tranche and we're delighted to announce that we have been designated as a Teaching School Alliance!

As a teaching school we have a challenging and exciting remit: through our talented and forward thinking Strategic Partners we will contribute significantly to improving outcomes for children. As a Leicestershire Teaching School led by two outstanding schools, there is no road map to follow, but we have every intention of working collaboratively and inspirationally to develop education and training for the needs of our partner schools. This site has been created with your school in mind: to inform, inspire and share the best in CPD, Leadership Development, ITT and School to School Support as part of developing and improving outcomes in schools. We invite you to explore the various links to access information and resources which we will continue to build and develop within the Alliance.  Step Teaching School Alliance in Leicestershire will be offering support to other schools in the county plus surrounding areas including Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Lincolnshire etc.

The following schools are members of STEP:

The Bradgate Education Partnership

We are part of the Bradgate Education Partnership

It was formed in collaboration with 11 local schools in Leicestershire who applied for MAT status to the Secretary of State for Education as a Multi Academy Trust in September 2016.

They are committed to developing the local educational landscape within our primary and secondary schools through our unique autonomous model. They firmly believe that through collaboration and supportive challenge we can continue to support and develop further our academy Head Teachers and our Local Governing Bodies (LGB) to manage their own academies through our unique model.

They are also registered as an academy sponsor for other schools or academies who may approach them and they aim to help them to improve their standards and performance through our supportive model of leadership and school improvement. They fully expect all schools and acadmies to give their expertise as well as take support from the Trust, as and when required.
