Welcome to The Olympus Academy Trust.
As Executive Headteacher and CEO of the Trust, I work with our schools, currently Abbeywood Community School and Bradley Stoke Community School, to provide the best possible educational opportunities for young people in the local area. There are Associate Headteachers in each school who are responsible for the day-to-day running of the schools, Judith Mee at Abbeywood and Jenny Sutton Kirby at Bradley Stoke.
As the partnership evolves, we will be encouraging members of staff and students from our schools to work closely together. There will be shared leadership roles across the Trust from September in order to ensure consistency and the sharing of good practice. The Olympus Academy Trust is an opportunity to build on our well-established local links in the Concorde Partnership in which students learn together with students from the other centres and have done for a number of years.
Abbeywood Community School looks forward to a promising future. The school has gone from strength to strength, achieving record GCSE and A level results in 2013 demonstrating the impressive and significant progress that has taken place throughout the school. Abbeywood Community School is amongst the most improved secondary schools in the whole of the Bristol area this year. Our aim is for Abbeywood to become the school of choice for local families, offering an exceptional learning experience for all students. The staff are committed to providing students with an inspiring and stimulating learning environment in which they can all succeed, achieve and excel. Abbeywood Community School has established itself in its state-of-the-art new building, providing students with stunning learning and recreational facilities, complemented by a new ethos, culture and a clear focus on rigour and attainment. Students are encouraged to have high aspirations and to believe in their own ability. This is encouraged both within the classroom and through our growing number of opportunities beyond the classroom.
Bradley Stoke Community School has established itself as a place where young people can be both happy and successful and I remain proud to have been associated with the school since before it opened in 2005. Bradley Stoke was judged to be good overall when inspected by Ofsted in April 2013 with outstanding behaviour and safety and outstanding leadership and management. The school is now focused on embedding outstanding teaching and learning.
In both schools I enjoy seeing our dedicated and innovative staff teams work with each successive cohort of students to shape the culture and ethos of our schools so that each individual feels valued and has the opportunity to contribute. We look forward to getting to know our new students each year and seeing them grow in confidence as they settle in. Our vision is to establish our schools at the heart of the community and to equip our students to be responsible individuals who are able to make a meaningful contribution to society. As Executive Headteacher, I am confident that our academy partnership will enable us to offer the best learning experience for all associated with us in the local area. Visitors often comment on the positive relationships and the enthusiasm for learning they see in our schools, both of which are very important to us; we hope you will experience the inclusive atmosphere and feel welcome if you visit.
