Thorpe CofE Primary School seeks an experienced Special Needs Assistant to provide support for a child on a one to one basis in Reception Class for 25 hours each week. Hours of work are Monday to Friday from 08.40 to 2pm with a 15 minute unpaid break - term time only. The role will commence ASAP. 

Under the direction and supervision of the class teacher core responsibilities include:

  • Working with a child on a one to one basis
  • Following the instructions of the class teacher and SENCO
  • Planning and prioritising tasks
  • Clarifying and explaining instructions 
  • Communicating effectively
  • Motivating pupil to learn
  • Organising the learning environment

Key Accountabilities will be:

  • Assisting in the delivery of day to day learning activities
  • Discussing with and reporting back to teacher on the planning and assessment of the pupil’s work
  • Organising and maintaining the learning environment
  • Working as part of a team
  • Maintaining confidentiality inside and outside the workplace
  • Understanding and applying school policies

The Special Needs Assistant may be required to undertake any other reasonable tasks as required by the class teacher
