Backwell School are looking to appoint a dynamic Science Technician to contribute to the high achieving faculty and students. The successful candidate will have good scientific skills and a strong passion for Science, but above all we want an enthusiastic hard-working team player.

The Science Department consistently produces excellent examination results. The Department has achieved consistently high GCSE pass rates. We teach A Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics and also Level 3 Applied Science. Results in all four courses are consistently high year-on-year. Every year a significant number of Year 13 students transfer to Science based courses at Higher Education level.

KS3 is taught as a two-year course, with Years 7, 8 and 9 taught in mixed ability groups. GCSE is taught from Year 9. From Year 10 onwards students are set by ability and are put on either the Combined Science or Triple Science pathway. The most able students follow the Triple Science pathway and approximately two thirds follow the Combined Science Trilogy pathway. At GCSE we follow AQA specifications.
