We are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic SEND Teacher, ideally with a Primary specialism, to join The City of Leicester College from August 2026 on a one-year fixed term contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference, working primarily with students in our Designated Specialist Provision (DSP) for learners with Communication and Interaction (C&I) needs, including autism.
This post has arisen due to increasing student numbers within our DSP for 2026/27, reflecting our commitment to meeting the needs of all learners.
About the Role
You will:
- Teach a range of subjects, including English and Maths, within a specialist SEND setting
- Plan and deliver highly adaptive, personalised learning in line with students’ Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Create a structured, low-arousal and communication-friendly environment that supports engagement and independence
- Build strong, positive relationships with students, parents/carers and external professionals
- Support students’ communication, social understanding and emotional regulation

- Director of SEND
- Assistant SENCo
- Lead Teaching Assistant
- SEND Administrator
- Specialist DSP HLTAs and Teaching Assistants

We are seeking a teacher who:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has strong curriculum knowledge
- Is a highly successful teacher, who embodies our school mission statement, ‘Ambition for All’
- Has experience (or a strong interest) in working with students with SEND, particularly C&I needs
- Can deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across subjects
- Demonstrates strong relationship-building skills with students and families
- Is committed to inclusive education and high expectations for all
- Is reflective, adaptable, and motivated to continually develop their practice
