Heathside Walton-on-Thames is an 11-16 free school, which opened in September 2022, serving the communities of Walton on Thames and Molesey. We occupy a brand new, state of the art site on Waterside Drive. When we reach full capacity we will be a school of 900 children, made of five year groups of 180. We believe this means that our school can be one in which all children are known and understood.
All the staff here at Heathside Walton are incredibly proud of the growing community we are building. We believe that through the combination of an outstanding education; an enriching curriculum; and strong pastoral care, wonderful things can be achieved. Our close partnership with our sibling school in Weybridge provides experience, expertise and a proven track record to draw upon. We are excited to look ahead to our planned merger with the Every Child Every Day multi academy trust, which presently provides our executive leadership.
Our children, staff and parent community chose values of Kindness, Resilience and Belonging during our opening term. We try to live these values every day and incorporate them into our shared language wherever we can. We see these values as the key to building a school in which children are safe, happy and can thrive.

Our mission is:
Heathside is a school for everyone. We do not allow bullying and are vigilant about creating an environment where everyone feels safe and welcome. Students are taught to use kind language, how to challenge intolerance and protect vulnerable learners. They are also given opportunities to give back to our school, local and national community through volunteering and fundraising.
At Heathside Walton, we are more than just a school—we are a values-led community where every member is integral to our collective success. Our core values—kindness, resilience, and belonging—were chosen by our school community, reflecting our deep commitment to fostering an environment where these principles guide our interactions and drive our mission.
Kindness: We believe in creating a nurturing environment where every staff member and student is treated with compassion and respect. Our approach to kindness fosters positive relationships, promotes a supportive atmosphere, and encourages collaboration.
Resilience: In our dynamic educational setting, resilience is key. We support our staff in navigating challenges with confidence and perseverance, providing the tools and resources needed to thrive in their roles and contribute meaningfully to our community.
Belonging: At Heathside Walton, every individual is valued and included. We strive to cultivate a strong sense of belonging, where everyone feels like an essential part of our team. This inclusive environment enhances teamwork, creativity, and mutual respect.
One of the most exciting elements of Heathside Walton is how much our students are able to shape and impact the school community. One of the first tasks our frontier cohort undertook was to pick our school values that will set the moral direction of our school for years to come.
This is our first value as we believe it is foundational to everything we do. Students are explicitly taught to be kind through character lessons, PSHE and in all elements of the school day. Students in year 7 will learn to express gratitude, be polite at all times, how to actively listen and to empathise with their peers.
We work hard and don’t give up.
We are an academic school with very high standards for behaviour. Alongside these high expectations we believe it is essential that we teach students to deal with stress, embrace failure and adopt a growth mindset. In our year 7 curriculum students will be taught to aim high, reflect on their strengths and weaknesses, how to manage stress and look after their mental health.
We care about our community.
