Sorry, we are currently not recruiting for any vacancies
We would love you to join our Talent Pool so we can contact you when the right vacancy arises.
New Close is a loving, caring and inclusive community where we respect, appreciate and support each other and our environment. Our aim is to create a positive learning environment where the children and their families are at the heart of everything we do.
With the support of the Acorn Education Trust, which we joined in November 2017, New Close has transformed its learning environment, classrooms and curriculum. As a result of this extensive work, New Close was graded 'good' by OFSTED in March 2022.
Our Early Years classrooms and outdoor learning area has been completely refurbished and extended. Within this we offer a nursery provision as well as our reception class. Not only are we proud of our Early Years environment, but we also are proud of our ability to offer continuous provision and tailored grouped teaching within this setting.
Throughout the rest of the school our skilled teaching and support team provide rich learning opportunities which meet the needs of all our children. Children do well here and are appropriately supported and challenged through high quality teaching, making good progress.
We warmly welcome visits to our school. If you have any questions or would like to view our school, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. I am always happy to talk to parents about any aspect of their children’s education.
I look forward to meeting you.
Louise Kilminster | Headteacher
We create a climate which actively encourages children to develop social, moral, spiritual and cultural awareness, and a sense of personal responsibility to allow them to become thoughtful citizens of our national and global communities.
We develop the whole child so that they leave our school as confident, independent learners, emotionally intelligent and creative, critical thinkers.
We encourage high quality work by having high expectations and try to instil a positive work ethic and a respect for truth which will prepare our children for adult life.
We value our partnership between home and school and the wider community.
Our Values
Our core values are central to everything we do.
Together we show:
Pride
Responsibility
Resilience
Respect
Aspiration
Positivity

The Acorn Education Trust was formed in August 2014 to create a local solution to a national strategy. Through close collaboration and a shared vision we believe each school will achieve great things while retaining their individual identity. Underpinning this close collaboration is a strong belief in our core purpose.
School improvement is the key to school effectiveness and is at the heart of the process of raising standards. It allows us to deliver an education for all children/students that is of the highest quality. The Acorn Education Trust is driven by its core purpose of improving outcomes and life chances for students and believes that an effective School Improvement Strategy is the key to unlocking the potential in its leaders, staff and children/students. An effective Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) uses the School Improvement Strategy to help ensure accountability, drive strategic thinking and deploy resources in order to improve outcomes for its children/students. Our leadership and management of each school is based on three principles:
Every school is an improving school
Leadership at every level is critical
The unique identity of each school must be preserved
