Overview

Knighton Mead, part of The Mead Educational Trust, is a small, inner-city primary academy, situated close to Leicester City centre. The academy has approximately 220 pupils in mainstream school and a nursery. Visitors often comment on the welcome they receive in our academy and we pride ourselves on having a nurturing, family atmosphere. We are based in a historic building, which first opened as a school in 1929 and provides spacious and airy accommodation. We make the most of our site with adventure playgrounds and a gazebo garden.

At Knighton Mead, we fully appreciate the value of learning outside the classroom. Each class has regular trips off site to enhance the curriculum.

We value parental involvement highly and regularly offer parent workshops and events.

We have high expectations of all our pupils, including their uniform, attendance, behaviour and, most importantly, their attitude to learning. Staff are expected to maintain high professional standards and be approachable to children and adults.

About Us

Our School

Knighton Mead Primary Academy is located to the south of Leicester City centre and is a ten-minute walk from the Walkers Stadium. We have around 220 children on roll and a nursery. The building dates from 1929 and has eight classrooms and three playgrounds. Good sports facilities are close by at the Aylestone Leisure Centre and are well used by the academy.

Our Classrooms

Our classrooms are bright and inviting with a reading area, interactive whiteboard and plenty to do!  The displays help us with our learning and show our best work, as well as reminding us of the school rules and our targets.  We work hard to keep our classrooms tidy and organised so that we know where to find everything without needing to ask!

The Enrichment Room

The Enrichment room includes a stage and area for us to practice our drumming and drama skills before we present these to the other children and our family during assemblies.

The Library

Our purpose built library contains a fantastic selection of stories and non-fiction books for all age groups.  We also have a reading corridor where you can borrow books and sit and read in comfort in a magical area during break and lunch times or take the books home to enjoy in your own time.
