Learning Support Tutor – Join Our Inclusive Learning Support Team

SFCA Teachers pay scale 1-9

Full time – Up to 31 hours per week (up to 25 hours student contact/face to face delivery)

Term time only

Are you passionate about helping every student succeed and skilled at tailoring learning support to individual needs? We are expanding our inclusive services as part of a trust-wide commitment to ensure all students can thrive. As a Learning Support Tutor, you will be a key member of a new specialist team dedicated to supporting students with specific learning differences (such as dyslexia, ADHD, and related needs) across St Vincent College and Richard Taunton Sixth Form College. This is a newly created role offering you the chance to provide life-changing support to learners and help shape an innovative, inclusive support programme within our colleges.

About the Role

In this hands-on tutoring position, you will work directly with students who need extra help to overcome barriers in their learning – from dyslexic learners who struggle with reading fluency to students with attention difficulties who need strategies to stay organised. You will design and deliver personalised 1:1 and small-group tutorials that build study skills, boost confidence, and ultimately help each student achieve their academic goals. Working under the Specialist Learning Support Manager and alongside teachers and support colleagues, you will ensure that learners with additional needs receive tailored, impactful support as part of the college’s inclusive offer.

The Learning Support Tutor is responsible for delivering personalised sessions tailored to students with learning differences, focusing on building essential study skills, monitoring progress, preparing differentiated resources, and advocating for student wellbeing. The role involves close collaboration with teachers and support staff to share best practices and coordinate care, referring students for specialist help when needed, and contributing to a culture of inclusion across the college. Additional duties include preparing custom materials, helping staff develop their skills in supporting diverse learners, participating in team meetings, and engaging with wider student services to ensure all learners are supported throughout their educational journey.

Why Join Us? – Inclusive Vision and New Team

By joining our colleges, you become part of a forward-thinking trust that puts inclusivity at the heart of its mission. This Learning Support Tutor role is part of an exciting expansion: we are building a stronger specialist team to support students with learning differences and take our support services to the next level. You will work alongside dedicated colleagues (like a Specialist Learning Support Manager, Advanced Practitioner, and others) in a unified effort to make sure every student gets the help they need to succeed. Few roles offer such heartfelt fulfilment, knowing that your guidance turned struggle into success for many young people.

Closing date: Thursday 7th August at midnight

Interviews: 19th and 20th August

Successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS application
