We are currently looking to recruit a part time Careers Advisor on a permanent basis to start as soon as possible.
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Careers Advisor to join our school and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality careers, information, advice and guidance to our students.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people to explore their future pathways and develop the knowledge, skills and experiences needed to succeed in education, employment and training.
Reporting director to our Vice Principal, you will support and enhance the academy's careers provision by providing impartial advice and guidance, organising careers events and work-related learning opportunities, and maintaining accurate records of student engagement and progression.
Based at The Cedars Academy in Birstall, Leicestershire and part of the Lionheart Educational Trust. 17 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus one week, to include teacher training days). Working hours to be discussed with the successful candidate.
Grade 7 point 11 FTE £26,832 (actual salary £10,548 pa)
Key responsibilities include:
• Delivering careers information, advice and guidance (IAG) to students, particularly in Years 10 and 12.
• Working towards or completing a Level 6 Careers Guidance qualification.
• Providing students with relevant and up-to-date Labour Market Information (LMI).
• Managing and promoting the use of Unifrog to record careers-related learning, work experience and future planning activities.
• Supporting the Careers Lead in evaluating the school's performance against the Gatsby Benchmarks.
• Coordinating careers-based competitions, enrichment activities and employer engagement opportunities.
• Organising mock interviews and feedback sessions for all Year 11 students.
• Planning and delivering a Careers Week alongside Work Experience Week.
• Supporting the delivery of the school's two-week workplace experience guarantee across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Organising careers fairs, apprenticeship events, educational visits and university trips.
• Maintaining accurate records through Compass+ and ensuring careers activities are fully documented.
• Supporting the administration and coordination of work experience placements.
• Assisting departments in maintaining careers guidance displays and curriculum links.
• Coordinating personal statements and supporting Post-16, apprenticeship and UCAS applications.
• Building effective relationships with employers, higher education providers, training organisations and external agencies, including Leicester and Leicestershire business partners.
• Ensuring the careers section of the academy website and online resources remain current and informative.
• Developing and maintaining careers resources within the school library.
• Coordinating the annual Careers and Apprenticeship Fayre.
• Undertaking other duties commensurate with the grade and responsibilities of the post.
