This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to start or develop their career in a vibrant and innovative secondary school. Mercia Academy is an 11-16 school in a small town close to the Peak District and near to the cities of Derby and Nottingham. We are looking to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher to join our team. You will be passionate about encouraging, motivating and inspiring young people through the support you provide, have experience of workshop skills in Construction and Product Design, and be familiar with standard workshop techniques and equipment.

We are seeking applicants who possess a wide range of knowledge and skills and can inspire our students to achieve their full potential. We are looking for someone who will play a fundamental role in shaping the direction and future of the curriculum areas.

Our students are articulate, confident and resilient and we need teachers who can build on that and further inspire them to achieve strong results.

We are delighted to be part of the school rebuilding programme; we are currently in purpose-built temporary accommodation on site prior to moving into the permanent new build. We have recently joined the Lionheart Educational Trust, giving wider opportunities for support and sharing good practice. We have a track record of recognising potential and developing leadership within school with internal promotion and other opportunities and welcome applications from ECTs. This is an exciting and transformative time for us, and we are excited about what the future holds.

We recognise that a journey to academic success requires a breadth of specialist support, and our school ethos and core values mean that students benefit from a team approach where quality teaching is supported by our clearly defined behaviour policy and enhanced by strong, intuitive pastoral support.

The Lionheart Educational Trust is a renowned family of seventeen schools based in and around Leicestershire. We strive to provide the highest quality education in each of our unique schools, raising the attainment of our talented students and reflecting the local communities of which they are a part. We are well supported by our Trust and our local Governing Body; ensuring we create to develop and improve.

We welcome applications from individuals with drive and determination who are able to challenge and inspire students of all abilities and from all backgrounds.
