About Us

Walton Oak Primary School currently has a two form entry structure with a single bulge year. Our classes have a maximum of 30 pupils which enables us to provide personalised support to students of all abilities and all teachers are supported by a teaching assistant.

We are proud to be able to provide onsite nursery provision and pupils are invited to join in the term after their third birthday. We aim to make the transition between nursery and reception as smooth as possible and we work in partnership with our parents to ensure this happens.

All nursery and reception pupils follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and all pupils in Years 1 to 6 follow the National Curriculum.

The Walton Oak Way (WOW)

At Walton Oak we are committed to encouraging our pupils to reach their full potential in a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment.

Our outstanding facilities and abundance of indoor and outdoor space enables us to provide children with a truly rounded educational experience, catering for the whole child and developing all the skills necessary for a successful future.

WOW valuesRespect, Responsibility, Endeavour, Consideration, Positivity, and Trust

Our children and staff take pride in being part of the Walton Oak experience, which is underpinned by our WOW (Walton Oak Way) values of respect, responsibility, endeavour, consideration, positivity and trust. The Walton Oak Way sits at the heart of everything we do and has been developed in collaboration with pupils, parents, staff and governors. These values are taught across every lesson by our passionate and supportive network of teaching staff and play a vital role in developing our pupils into positive young learners.

We encourage all pupils and staff to understand, share and embrace our vision, and embed our values and ethos into everyday practice.

Lumen Learning Trust

Learning Together for a brighter future

From April 2019 we were delighted to become part of the Lumen Learning Trust joining our partner schools, Saxon Primary in Shepperton, The Echelford Primary in Ashford and Rverbridge Primary in Staines upon Thames. We also welcomed Darley Dene Primary in Addlestone in 2020.

The starting point for Walton Oak's learning environment is the child and we work to 'craft' the provision around their individual needs. In this way we can be confident that we are ensuring the right opportunities are made available to enable every child to excel and genuinely achieve their full potential.

Our teaching team benefits from the strengths and skill set from colleagues from all five Lumen schools with the addition of Leadership Consultants centrally appointed by the Trust itself. Across the five schools we have 9 Specialist Leaders of Education and our Executive Principal, Mrs. McCarthy, is an accredited National Leader of Education and a serving Ofsted inspector.
