At Sandfield, we are very proud of our 2 year rolling curriculum programme, which is organised in phase groups.
This curriculum reflects not only the skills and knowledge that children need to succeed, but is also bespoke to the needs of our children.
The core of our curriculum is experiential learning, supported by rich, challenging and diverse texts. It is broad and balanced and helps our children develop intellectually, socially, culturally, spiritually and morally. We develop children’s vocabulary from their starting point, providing a vocabulary rich environment, which supports children's’ progress in all areas.
With our use of technology, we are currently working towards being an Apple Distinguished School. For the next three years, our vision is to become innovators in the use of technology that will fuel creativity, deepen collaboration and to close the achievement gap between our more disadvantaged pupils and all our pupils.
Our three rules are Ready, Respectful, Safe and children strive to be the best version of themselves each day.
We foster an inclusive culture where Everyone is Welcome, Everyone Belongs and Everyone is Important.
We are a primary school in the heart of Guildford town centre. Families travel from far and near to attend Sandfield and all share our aims that children will be happy, build a solid foundation of learning, show their skills and talents, as they learn to become responsible and caring to one another and the world in which they live.
The school is over 120 years old and is housed in a beautiful Victorian building that is modernized to the needs of the 21st Century child and teacher. Our grounds are fully utilized to enable the children to have a wide variety of play and learning opportunities, and over the years have won many awards. Our position means we are very fortunate to have a huge range of local resources, including large sports grounds, a swimming pool and local pitches and courts, right on the front doorstep.
The huge varieties of nationalities, currently 40, that are within the school make it a very diverse place and the children's opportunities and experiences reflect their backgrounds and aspirations.
