Selwood Academy have a fantastic opportunity available for visiting peripatetic teachers in the following areas:
• Drum Kit
• Pop/Jazz Piano
• Strings
We are looking to add to our existing peripatetic team who provide inspiring 1-2-1 or 1-2-2 lessons for our pupils ranging from ages 9-13. Our school highly values the importance of music and the arts and regularly run performances within our community. Selwood Academy is a middle school with pupils from years 5-8 studying 1 hour of music a week at KS2/3, as well as having access to a number of extra-curricular music groups. The opportunity will involve teaching pupils with a wide range of abilities and aspirations from beginners to students preparing for instrumental examinations.
The successful candidate needs to be confident in their ability to teach outstanding lessons, demonstrating enthusiasm and passion. The candidate must be prepared to teach a range of styles that are engaging to the pupils as well as giving them plenty of challenge. Candidates should be able to demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and practical skill with instrument. This role will be offered on a self-employed basis with hours depending on student uptake. We currently estimate that each role would currently have around a morning or afternoon’s worth of lessons which we aim to increase over time.
The successful candidate will invoice, timetable and liaise with parents directly. Rate of pay is set by the visiting teacher. The Academy will support with promoting the lessons via newsletters and social media but all other administration of your lessons will be managed by you. Degree level qualification in Music is highly desired. Selwood Academy is an Anglican / Methodist Foundation Middle school which sits at the heart of the community of Frome.
