Overview

Kibworth Mead Academy became a convertor Academy in 2011, although our roots date back to the 17th Century. Our results are high year on year, and we are always amongst the highest performing schools nationally for our results in English, maths and science. In addition to our academic excellence, we pride ourselves on our outstanding behaviour, our level of care, high quality teaching and first rate accommodation, including a brand new 3G artificial football pitch. On the strength of our continued success, we were delighted to receive approval in July 2014 to convert to an 11-16 school in September 2015. We are excited by the changes ahead, not least because we know we can now extend our high standard of provision all the way through to age 16.

We will build on our excellent achievements as an 11-14 high school to ensure our students’ results at 16 put us on a par with the very best schools in the county. The school is situated in the village of Kibworth Beauchamp and overlooks the South Leicestershire countryside.  The area is popular with parents/carers who work both locally and further afield. We are approximately 7 miles from Leicester and Market Harborough, both of which have excellent rail links to major UK cities: London is approximately 1 hour away by rail.  Leicestershire itself has many attractions for families. See www.goleicestershire.com for more information. We believe that challenges and activities in and outside school should be available to young people in order to build self esteem, raise achievement and encourage community cohesion within a framework of British Values. These principles underpin our approach to curriculum policy and planning. We are still firmly committed to the five objectives of the Every Child Matters agenda  – staying safe; being healthy; enjoying and achieving; economic well-being; and making a positive contribution. Testimony to this commitment is our achievement in recent years for the following awards: Healthy Schools, Sportsmark, Technology College status and Artsmark. Our students are actively encouraged to develop initiative and social responsibility. To this end, they have worked together creatively to raise an impressive amount of money for charities both home and abroad, including support for our school link in Belarus.

About Us

The Mead family of schools are united in the belief that together we make a positive difference:

  • for our learners
  • through our governance

  • to the educational landscape
  • through effective operations

Our Vision

Our Values

The Mead family of schools have developed a set of guiding principles (the 7Cs) that define who we are and help to guide us in all that we do. These are:

Challenge: Providing an excellent education by having high aspirations for all. Providing a platform for pupils to challenge themselves and others, so they can become the best they can be and contribute actively to society.

Creativity: Providing pioneering, vibrant and transformative learning experiences that are open to all. Offering a well-researched and evaluated curriculum, which acts as the catalyst for personal growth.

Culture: Respecting and celebrating diversity, enriching the lives of our pupils. Providing inspiration to participate in, and respond to, artistic and cultural experiences.

Collaboration: Working effectively and harmoniously together across phases, knowing our strengths will influence every step of our development, and celebrating our successes.

Community: Building a sense of belonging in a reflective and stimulating environment. Celebrating care, kindness and difference, allowing positive relationships to flourish and ensuring communication is excellent.

Character: Nurturing and developing personal attributes such as perseverance, resilience, confidence, optimism, tolerance, respect, community spirit, honesty, integrity and dignity.

Courage: Committing to challenge racial and social injustice and to promote personal and societal change. Making decisions based on clear high moral values and delivered with compassion and integrity.

The Mead Educational Trust (TMET)

Together we make a positive difference

Formed in 2014, The Mead Educational Trust (TMET) is a well-established, respected multi academy trust in Leicestershire, with a growing family of primary and secondary schools.

TMET exists to make a positive difference to the life chances of children and young people and to our wider community.

At the heart of all we do is a commitment to provide our pupils access to a world-class education, our schools with excellent school-to-school support, and our staff with high quality professional development.

We value cross phase work and have deliberately recruited a mix of primary and secondary schools into the Trust. All our schools have common values and core operational systems, applied locally with adaptations for individual contexts and needs.

Through our SCITT and Teaching School Hub we provide excellent professional development opportunities and actively spot and nurture leadership potential.

At the helm of our Trust is a group of carefully chosen trustees, leaders of education and key leaders within both the wider and business community. These conscientiously selected guardians of our Trust, supported by our core central team and effective business management systems, ensure that we keep exceptional education provision at our core.
