A compelling and distinctive opportunity to join the founding team of staff at Brook Mead Academy: help shape the future of Leicester’s newest secondary school.

Curriculum Leader of Modern Foreign Languages Leadership Pay Scale points 4-7. To start late August 2024

The Mead Educational Trust is an energetic and dynamic family of thirteen primary and secondary schools in and around Leicester. As a family of schools, we use our collective strength and talents in order to make a positive difference to our children, young people and communities. Every person who works for TMET has a role in helping our children succeed, from teachers to premises officers to IT professionals.

At the heart of all we do is a commitment to provide our children with access to a world-class education, our schools with excellent school-to-school support, and our staff with high quality professional development. Our people really are our greatest asset and we are always looking for ways to help them develop and grow their careers. We have a brilliant team of staff who support and encourage each other, within and across our schools and central Trust.

Brook Mead Academy is the newest school in TMET, following on from the successful opening of Castle Mead Academy in September 2019. While seizing upon the unique opportunity to design educational provision afresh as a new Free School, Brook Mead also draws on the outstanding provision (confirmed Ofsted 2022) enjoyed at our flagship secondary academy, Rushey Mead Academy, which far exceeds national averages for progress and attainment, placing it year after year in the top 5% of schools nationally.

We know that education has the power to transform lives. At Brook Mead, we are Building Better Futures Together! Staff and pupils are united in a mission to excel and secure the best possible future for each pupil by laying the foundations for high academic achievement and all-round personal development.

We believe that knowledge is power and access to powerful knowledge is the right of every child. We are looking for subject enthusiasts and experts ready to take our scholars on an exciting journey through their subject, ensuring our pupils leave with a treasure trove of knowledge and skills which will be theirs forever to use for the betterment of themselves and the world. If you love your subject and want to impart that knowledge to the next generation, please apply.

• This is a unique opportunity to join a strong, talented, collaborative team teaching a well-crafted KS3 curriculum in a brand-new school. We are set to move into our stunning new carbon net zero building in 2025.

• Routines throughout the school are consistently applied, making all teachers feel empowered to impart knowledge and inspire our scholars!

• There is a consistent school wide behaviour policy applied by all with detentions centralised and staff on hand to support.

• Weekly subject team meetings focus on knowledge enhancement, planning to the detail, crafting common explanations, questions and anticipating misconceptions.

• Professional learning is built into the week rather than bolted on, underpinned by Dylan Wiliam’s dictum that “Every teacher needs to improve, not because they are not good enough, but because they can be even better.”

• Individual instructional coaching is a universal entitlement.

• Curriculum is king with the discipline of each subject respected and fostered so that scholars really can benefit from the best thought, said and created in every field of human endeavour.

• Our pedagogical approach has clarity, simplicity and power, following our BMA Direct Instruction framework.

• Staff wellbeing is a priority with constant vigilance around workloads.

• As part of The Mead Educational Trust, you are able to work with esteemed colleagues at Castle Mead, Rushey Mead, Kibworth Mead and Orchard Mead, as well as colleagues in our primary schools.

• Practice is research informed in every area of work and we focus on a few key priorities rather than be seduced by gimmicks and quick fixes.
