We for the most part, adhere to the National curriculum but staff are skillful and adept at tailoring it to suit the needs and interests of their classes as due to the smaller numbers they develop a comprehensive knowledge of the capabilities and potential of the pupils in their care. We can confidently say that we know our pupils' strengths and where we can help them to develop still further.
Bowbrook House School enables each individual pupil the chance to try new challenges in a safe supportive environment, often developing significant talents in areas such as sport, music and the arts. It is this 'opportunity of opportunities' for all that makes us a very different independent school model, allowing pupils to flourish in areas where they might not have previously had the chance to do so. Classroom learning is enhanced by a plethora of enrichment activities ranging from shooting lessons to archaeological digs and singing in the company of thousands.
Parental testimonies have commented on how delightful it is to see the interaction between our junior and senior pupils, where you will find a junior pupil with the confidence to chat to a senior pupil and a senior pupil with the skills to encourage and foster their younger charge.
Bowbrook House School's traditional values support the learning of the children as they study the past and prepare for today's demanding and fast changing world and for their future in it. We enjoy making links with the wider community, both locally and nationally, providing our pupils with the skills to work well with their peers, the working world and the wider academic community.
Within the ISA Bowbrook has had a great deal to celebrate. We have National champions in athletics, cross country, tennis and swimming. We regularly have Midlands ISA representation in sport, art and literature. As a school we won the prestigious National Award for Excellence in 2010. In 2013 we won the National Whitbread Memorial prize for individual GCSE excellence. Then in 2015 we were finalists in two categories at the National awards ceremony; IT Innovation and Excellence and Innovation in Curriculum Provision. This was followed by placements in the top two for Excellence and Innovation in Curriculum Provision in a Senior School in 2016. 2017 saw us awarded the title of 'Outstanding Sport - Small Schools category'. 2017 also saw recognition in the prestigious Worcestershire Education Awards run by the University of Worcester; 'Secondary School of the Year' and also 'Headmaster/Principal of the Year' for me personally - and I was happy to accept the award on behalf of the whole teaching staff. Bowbrook's strength lies in its size, we may be small but we regularly succeed on the National ISA stage and within the County of Worcestershire.
