Achieving Together

Our small school has been here since the mid-1930s, situated in a pretty north west Leicestershire hamlet, and has pupils aged 4 to 11 years old.

We have a lively calendar of activities and events, and enjoy good community relationships with parents, teachers, volunteers and staff - all working to make our school a safe, fun place for our children to learn and grow.

Our teaching staff all have input to the planning of work here at the school, bringing their wide-ranging experiences to bear on the development of learning and teaching at Griffydam.

About Us

Griffydam is a small, rural primary school for children aged between 4 and 11. The parents of over 80% of our children have actively chosen to send their children to our school, attracted by the close "family" ethos, the high quality of teaching and learning, and the outstanding outside environment in which our school is situated.

Our children are encouraged to believe in themselves and to develop "can do" attitudes that will equip them to meet new challenges with confidence. Our curriculum reflects the skills that we all need to become life-long learners. Children have opportunities to work both individually and co-operatively, and to appreciate their own efforts and the efforts of others. We aim to provide work that is suited to the needs of the individual child, and we at Griffydam School are passionate about helping every child to fulfil his or her potential and to experience success.

Of course we value hard work and achievement – but we also value kindness, consideration for others and care for the wider world. We try to foster all these attributes by coming together every week as a whole school to celebrate successes and achievements of all kinds.

Our children are at the very centre of everything we do!
