About our School

Wellies.jpg

Welcome to Heathfield Primary and Nursery School. We are a warm and inclusive community school that spans two campuses north of Nottingham City. Our first site, located on Scotland Road in Basford, accommodates up to 280 pupils, alongside a nursery. A short journey away, near Highbury Vale in Bulwell, our second site can be found on Kersall Drive. This campus, which opened its doors in October 2015, now provides a vibrant learning environment for 420 pupils, in addition to another supportive nursery setting.

At Heathfield, we are proud to serve two wonderfully diverse communities, bringing together a rich mix of cultures and backgrounds. Both campuses are dedicated to offering engaging learning experiences and fostering a sense of belonging for every child.

Values and Ethos

The principal aim of our school is for everyone to 'Thrive Together' through our underlying values of 'Knowledge', 'Nurture', and 'Enrichment'. We want Heathfield to be a place where pupils are excited to come and learn and feel supported in achieving their full potential. Throughout their journey through school, pupils' work is guided by our Heathfield Pledge:

Happy, Safe, and Confident

Eager to Learn

Aiming High

Taking Care

Healthy Attitudes

Focused on Enrichment

Including Everyone

Environmentally Aware

Living in Harmony

Developing Global Citizens

These are the specific commitments or behaviors that pupils and the school community aspire to embody to realize our aim of 'Thriving Together'.

Working at Heathfield

Heathfield Primary and Nursery School presents a great opportunity for prospective job candidates, offering a chance to be part of a school that Ofsted described in January 2024 as having "a strong sense of community" across its two sites and a place where every child is given a strong start to their primary education. The school's dedication to its motto 'thriving together' is evident in its inclusive approach, ensuring pupils feel heard and cared for, an aspect highly regarded by parents and the broader school community.

Furthermore, Heathfield's collaboration with other schools through the Nottingham Schools Trust (NST) enhances its strengths, fostering a collaborative environment that benefits both staff and students. The school's commitment to continuous improvement and professional development, as highlighted by Ofsted, ensures that staff are well-supported and valued. This focus on staff development not only contributes to school improvements but also enables educators to refine their skills and teaching methods.

At Heathfield, there's a clear emphasis on enriching pupils' learning experiences, from the ambitious curriculum tailored to build on pupils' knowledge over time to the diverse extracurricular opportunities in sports, the arts, and music. The school's approach to early reading and the development of a supportive environment for pupils with SEND demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity and high educational standards. Working at Heathfield means being part of a team that values high expectations, innovative teaching, and the holistic development of each student, making it an ideal place for those passionate about making a meaningful impact in education.
