Overview

At Herrick Primary School the key to our mission statement is simply, - 'to give each and everyone a chance' - Here at Herrick Primary School we welcome children, their parents and carers into a safe, friendly, happy and hardworking environment where respect for others, positive attitudes towards work and behaviour are encouraged and nurtured.

Herrick Primary is a school where all children are valued and where all staff work hard to help every child reach his or her full potential. Children work in a very caring, stimulating school environment and respond well to the schools positive discipline policy and the school ethos of Enjoy, Achieve and Respect.

All members of staff here at Herrick Primary School, both teaching and non- teaching, are committed to providing a broad, balanced and relevant education for all the children within a supportive and caring environment. They seek to build the self-esteem of all children through a policy of equal opportunity. All staff work hard to ensure that relationships throughout the school are based on mutual trust and respect as the school strongly believes that it is through secure relationships that the children respond with positive attitudes and understanding of their work and to others.

The governing body is very supportive of the school and works in close partnership with the school philosophy, that all children have a right to succeed and that all children have a right to an excellent education.

About Us

We are a thriving, caring multicultural primary school in the City of Leicester serving the Rushey Mead area. We currently have 387 children on roll, aged from 3 to 11 years.

The school was opened in 1971 and is a one-storey building set in large grounds. We have a spacious field and two hard surfaced play areas for P.E. lessons and for playtime use. We also have Trim Trails, Wooded Area and a Willow Dome outdoor classroom. Foundation Stage 1 and Foundation Stage 2 each have separate fenced play areas.

The main school building currently houses 10 classes around two large halls. The halls are used for P.E., assemblies, dinners and social functions. We also have a Computer Suite, a kiln and a large Library. There is a creative outside learning area in the KS1 quadrangle and a KS2 quadrangle. The school staff are hardworking, dedicated and knowledgeable and are enthusiastic about making learning fun whilst helping each child to do their very best. We have an active, committed Governing Body who are keen to help the school develop and parent/teacher links are further extended through the Herrick Parent Teacher Association where we organise fund raising alongside enjoyable social events.
