Our School

Hugglescote Community Primary School is a thriving, happy and inclusive community where every child is valued, supported and encouraged to shine.

I am extremely proud to lead a dedicated team who put children’s well-being at the heart of everything they do. Together with our governors, we work hard to deliver a rich, engaging curriculum that inspires children to do their best, prepares them for the next steps in their education, and helps them develop the confidence, skills and enthusiasm they need for future life.

A sense of warmth, friendliness and mutual respect underpins all that we do. We have high expectations for our pupils—both in the quality of their work and in the way they treat others. Quite simply, we expect children to try their best and to behave with courtesy and consideration at all times.

Parents and carers are a vital part of our school community, and we truly value the partnership we share. Working together, we can support each child’s learning and well-being, and help them develop positive attitudes, strong behaviour and a love of learning. We warmly encourage parents to get involved in school life so we can work as a team to help every child reach their full potential.

We are proud of Hugglescote Community Primary School—a place where children not only learn, but enjoy learning.

We look forward to welcoming your child and hope their time with us is both happy and successful.

About Us

HUG21-113-sm.jpg

We are a three-form entry school with a genuine family feel. Strong, visible leadership means every child is known by name and feels they truly belong.

The size of our school allows us to offer more: specialist staff including a full time non-class based SENDCO, an assistant SENDCO, a dedicated sports teacher, an experienced pastoral team and highly skilled learning support assistants who ensure every pupil gets the help they need.

We provide a broad, exciting curriculum with extensive extracurricular clubs, sports and enrichment opportunities. Our Platinum School Sports Award— the highest level possible — celebrates our commitment to inclusive, high-quality sport.

Our expansive grounds include sports fields, outdoor classrooms, a trim trail and a Forest School zone, giving pupils exceptional space to explore and learn.

Older pupils thrive as ambassadors, mentors and buddies, building confidence while helping to shape a positive, caring school culture.

What Makes Us Unique

OPAL Outdoor Play And Learning

For all children every lunchtime, where every child benefits from high-quality, adventurous and inclusive play during break times. OPAL helps improve physical health, creativity, teamwork and emotional wellbeing, making play a valued part of each school day.

Voice 21 – Focus on Oracy

Through Voice 21 programme, a strong emphasis on oracy – the ability to speak and listen effectively. Children are taught to articulate ideas clearly, listen actively and engage respectfully with others. These skills build confidence, enhance academic achievement and prepare children for life beyond the classroom.

Prioritising Mental Wellbeing

Children are taught to recognise and name their feelings and are equipped with practical strategies to manage them. By embedding wellbeing into the curriculum and daily routines, we nurture emotionally intelligent, resilient learners who feel safe, seen and supported.

Strong Relationships with Parents and Families

We value open, positive relationships with parents and carers. Our approachable staff and family-friendly ethos ensure that every family feels part of our school community.

Enriched Learning Experiences

We provide a broad and balanced curriculum that goes beyond the basics. From music (including participation in Young Voices, singing at local events) to arts, drama, STEM and sport, children are exposed to enriching activities that develop their talents and ignite curiosity.

Residential Trips that Build Confidence

Our residentials – Year 4’s Beaumanor Hall experience and Year 6’s adventure at Robinwood Activity Centre in Wales.

Responsibility, Mentoring and Ambassadors

Older children take on meaningful roles as mentors, buddies, and school ambassadors. These responsibilities promote leadership, kindness, and pride in the school, while offering role models for younger pupils.
