Overview

We are immensely proud of our village school’s warm and welcoming ethos and the environment for learning that it offers. Our successes have been the result of good leadership, a clear vision, teamwork and a dedicated staff. Our school however, wouldn’t be the place it is without all the parents, carers and members of the community who volunteer their time and talents and come into school for a variety of reasons to help out

About Us

Newbold Verdon Primary School is located at the heart of the village. We currently have 244 pupils (24 of which are taught within our specialist autism provision) on roll. Our catchment area has traditionally been children from Newbold Verdon but a number of our pupils now do come from further afield. Our school also offers a morning nursery for 3+ children on site.

All our mainstream children are taught in single year group classes. In addition to 11 classrooms, our school offers DT room, soft play room, sensory room, hall, community lounge, kitchen and offices. Our outside facilities include a marked activity playground, outdoor play equipment with artificial turf for all year round fun, sensory garden and a large playing field. Our Unit for children with Autism was opened in September 1999. It is an integral part of Newbold Verdon Primary School and all staff, governors and children view the Unit and the main part of the school as a whole. Children from our unit must legally be included in the National Data for Keystage 1 and 2 SATs, league tables and Ofsted reports. This may, on occasions, mean that the reported results do not realistically reflect the standards achieved by pupils within mainstream school. However, such is the positive impact for all pupils, from both mainstream and the autism unit, this is worth much more than a few places on a league table

Living and Working in Leicestershire

In the Heart of England - Residents of Leicestershire enjoy the best of everything
From refreshing and beautiful countryside and personable market towns to vibrant city living, Leicestershire offers a distinctive and high quality of life that will suit all lifestyles

Leicestershire is a beautiful county at the heart of England, within the developing National Forest.  It is a county where you can discover completely unspoilt villages and market towns, open countryside and panoramic views with rocky summits and secluded valleys.

Leicestershire has a wide variety of attractions including Bosworth Battlefield, where the course of English history changed dramatically, Snibston Discovery Park, which recalls our industrial past, and the National Space Centre.

Loughborough, in the north of the County is at the forefront of Information Technology and Loughborough University is also the national headquarters for many sports in the UK.  A number of Olympic teams will be training at Loughborough University in preparation for the 2012 Games in London, including, among others, the British Swimming Team, the British Triathlon Team, the elite British Athletes and the English Women’s Football Team.

The jet engine was invented in Lutterworth, in the south of the County, while Hinckley in the west was where the hosiery and footwear industries evolved.  Ashby-de-la-Zouch, in the north-west, and Market Harborough, in the south-east, are two very attractive, historical market towns.  Melton Mowbray, in the north-east, is a rural market town famous for the pork pie and for Stilton cheese.

Cosmopolitan and cultured, historic but futuristic, Leicester in the centre of the County is nothing if not varied, with its strong cultural diversity, excellent entertainment, night-life and restaurants.  The newly re-developed centre of the City offers a wide range of shopping opportunities, from the largest permanent outdoor market in Europe to the extensive Highcross shopping centre.

Leicestershire is well served by many transportation networks.  Four motorways (M1, M69, M42 and M6) run through the County, and there are regular trains to London, Nottingham, Birmingham and the North.  For international travel East Midlands Airport is located in the north of the County, and Birmingham Airport is also easily accessible
