Welcome to Newlands Community Primary School

At Newlands we create a caring, nurturing environment where children feel safe and are eager to learn. We use our core values to guide pupils throughout their time with us to become kind, conscientious and passionate learners who inspire and motivate those around them. We strongly believe that supporting children’s social, emotional and mental health development is the underpinning of a successful school career and our pupils have pride in themselves, their school and their wider community.

We believe that every child can ‘Shine Bright’ and we strive to ensure that learning is always fun and inspiring. Our exciting and engaging curriculum encourages children to become resilient, independent thinkers with a thirst for learning. Every child is respected and treated as an individual, with no limits placed on their learning – just opportunities to continually improve. We believe in the potential of every individual and that every child in our school can achieve and enjoy their time with us.

This is an exciting time for Newlands Community Primary School as we have joined the O.W.L’s academy trust and are striving for continual improvement in the learning and outcomes for all children. We are very proud of our school and always look forward to welcoming visitors.

About Us

We believe in the family and think of ourselves as a family school. We believe that the family, governing body and school must work together as partners to help each child progress and develop so as to achieve the highest possible standards. Newlands cares about each child and adult. In striving for excellence we ensure that each child receives the best quality education in surroundings which promote and encourage learning.

Our school is well equipped to ensure that each child is treated and taught according to need. We recognise the value, worth and strength of every individual (whatever their age!) and aim to help each become aware of, achieve and extend their potential. We expect the children in our care to want to learn; to be excited by the world in which they live and to act responsibly in it. Children and staff have developed and practise a positive code of conduct which is understood by all and which welcome newcomers are expected to adopt. You will realise that there are high expectations for every area of school life and we trust you are happy to share our efforts and celebrate our successes.

Owls Academy Trust

Owls Trust

Newlands Community Primary School converted to an Academy on 1st January 2024 after consultations with parents, teachers, children and the community. The Governors and all other stakeholders, keeping abreast with the changing landscape of education, believe that partnership is vital to ensure stability and continuous high quality provision for our children. As a result the decision was made to join with local schools to form a Multi Academy Trust (MAT).

We are proud to be part of the OWLS (Oadby, Wigston & Leicestershire Schools) Academy Trust. The (MAT) has been formed with nine local schools, Glenmere Primary School in Wigston, Langmoor Primary School in Oadby, Fernvale Primary School in Thurnby, Little Hill Primary School in Wigston, Hinckley Parks Primary School in Hinckley, New Lubbesthorpe Primary School in Lubbesthorpe, Ravenhurst Primary School in Braunstone, Hollycroft Primary School in Hinckley and Newlands Community Primary school. We work closely with them to share expertise and resources to provide continuous, high quality provision for our children.
