Overview

Oxley Primary School is a Local Authority maintained community primary school for children aged 4-11 located in the heart of Shepshed.

Shepshed is served by four Primary schools and Iveshead School. The school adjoins the Little Haw Playing Fields and is adjacent to the newly reconstructed Glenmore Community Centre, owned by the Shepshed Parish Council. Access to the school is via Thorpe Road.

Oxley is an inclusive school; we build our ethos around our key messages of being kind, being brilliant and fostering an ‘I can’ attitude in all we do. This is also captured in our school values:

to provide a caring, secure and stimulating environment in which all children can achieve the highest academic, personal and social standards, reaching their individual goals through a close partnership between home and school.

As a result, our positive, friendly and warm atmosphere is always praised by visitors and our pupils leave us as well-rounded citizens, excited and eager for their next steps in education.

Head's Welcome

A very warm welcome to Oxley Primary school. As Headteacher of Oxley, I am both proud and pleased to welcome you to our amazing school. At Oxley we have a strong focus on wellbeing and ensuring our pupils are both happy and enjoy coming to school – we feel this is key to them achieving their potential.

I firmly believe every child should love school and it is our job to provide purposeful learning experiences which enthuse, motivate, and engage pupils in their learning. We are incredibly proud of our pupils – they are kind, keen to learn, and enjoy being challenged.

As Headteacher at Oxley, I am dedicated to continually raising standards across the school and developing our curriculum to give our pupils the very best education possible. Our dedicated staff, governors, and parents work together to ensure our pupils hold the Oxley “I can attitude” to achieve the best possible learning outcomes.

The school is a popular choice in the village and we pride ourselves on connecting with the local community. I am committed to building positive relationships with the whole school community. I understand the important contribution to children’s achievements at school that parents and careers make, and I am committed to continually developing the relationships between the school and home for everyone’s benefit.

I hope you enjoy exploring our Career Page/School website and finding out more about our school and the way we work. Please do make an appointment to see the school in action; I look forward to showing you around.

Kindest Regards

Mr D Caldwell

Living and Working in Leicestershire

In the Heart of England - Residents of Leicestershire enjoy the best of everything

From refreshing and beautiful countryside and personable market towns to vibrant city living, Leicestershire offers a distinctive and high quality of life that will suit all lifestyles

Leicestershire is a beautiful county at the heart of England, within the developing National Forest. It is a county where you can discover completely unspoilt villages and market towns, open countryside and panoramic views with rocky summits and secluded valleys.

Leicestershire has a wide variety of attractions including Bosworth Battlefield, where the course of English history changed dramatically, Snibston Discovery Park, which recalls our industrial past, and the National Space Centre.

Loughborough, in the north of the County is at the forefront of Information Technology and Loughborough University is also the national headquarters for many sports in the UK.

The jet engine was invented in Lutterworth, in the south of the County, while Hinckley in the west was where the hosiery and footwear industries evolved. Ashby-de-la-Zouch, in the north-west, and Market Harborough, in the south-east, are two very attractive, historical market towns. Melton Mowbray, in the north-east, is a rural market town famous for the pork pie and for Stilton cheese.

Cosmopolitan and cultured, historic but futuristic, Leicester in the centre of the County is nothing if not varied, with its strong cultural diversity, excellent entertainment, night-life and restaurants. The newly re-developed centre of the City offers a wide range of shopping opportunities, from the largest permanent outdoor market in Europe to the extensive Highcross shopping centre.

Leicestershire is well served by many transportation networks. Four motorways (M1, M69, M42 and M6) run through the County, and there are regular trains to London, Nottingham, Birmingham and the North. For international travel East Midlands Airport is located in the north of the County, and Birmingham Airport is also easily accessible
