St James's has an established reputation for providing an outstanding education, based on the values of living life through Christ.

We are a vibrant community, serving four parishes and our curriculum provision is rich and diverse. Our children have a vast array of excellent opportunities not only academically but in art, drama, music and sport.

Our school motto is "Put out into the deep" – all pupils and those involved in their education are encouraged to contribute to the life of the school and those wider communities to which we belong.

About Us

St_J_Pic_3.jpg

St James's is a Catholic school in which each individual grows in the knowledge and love of Christ. In partnership with parents and the whole community, our purpose is to provide a high standard of education, giving the maximum opportunity to realise each person's potential.

St James's Catholic Primary School is over 100 years old although our present building is fairly new officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal in January 2006. The school was founded by the Sisters of Mercy and continues the vision and vocation to serve the Catholic children of Twickenham providing an education that nurtures and develops the whole child spiritually, academically, socially and in faith.

Our school has 3 forms of entry from Reception to Year 6 each class has 30 children. The Nursery has 2 classes of 26 and operates in the morning. George Tancred Centre, a centre for pupils with an Autism Spectrum Disorder has 10 pupils.

Our school serves the four parishes and prides itself on a family environment. The school is very well supported by the Parents and Friends Association who provide funds for additional resources and social events for parents and pupils.

High standards of behaviour, work and presentation are encouraged in all aspects of school life, there is a strong commitment to our Catholic faith, to the arts and PE. All pupils are encouraged to try their very best enjoying challengingly themselves and taking some risks in their learning.

Our school motto is; "Put out into the deep." St James's aims to offer pupils many opportunities throughout their school life; learning to participate and contribute to the life of the school, and the wider communities to which we belong.

While St James's has been teaching in Twickenham for over 115 years the mission of the school remains the same:

St James's is a Catholic school in which each individual grows in the knowledge and love of Christ. In partnership with parents and the whole community, our purpose is to provide a high standard of education, giving the maximum opportunity to realize each person’s potential.

The last Ofsted inspection took place in January 2015.

The Inspector states:

"Pupils’ achievement is outstanding. They make outstanding progress in reading, writing and mathematics. By the time pupils leave Year 6, their attainment is significantly above average. Staff set very high standards of behaviour, which are rigorously upheld. Pupils are extremely polite, courteous and respectful. They have a great appetite for learning, and their very strong attitudes to their learning contribute considerably to the outstanding progress they make."

Parents are highly positive about all aspects of the school’s work, including how well the school is led and managed.
