Promoting resilience and encouraging children to become the best possible version of themselves.

A very warm welcome to The Meadow Community Primary School and Pre-School, which is a part of the multi-academy, Symphony Learning Trust.

We are very proud of our very successful school, which has been at the heart of the Wigston community, educating local children for many years. 2023 sees the school celebrate its 50th birthday!

At The Meadow we have our own pre-school which takes children from two to four years of age, through local authority funded places and through parent paid places. Our primary school has capacity for 420 children from the ages of four to eleven.

We believe it is important to provide a happy, caring environment where EVERY child is encouraged to be confident and excited about meeting new challenges and to strive towards excellence in all they do. It is our belief that EVERY child should enjoy school life, find satisfaction in their achievements and realise their potential to the full. That is why we place great emphasis on developing the whole child through our ‘Route to Resilience’ approach. We want children to succeed academically but also personally – becoming the best version of themselves that they can be.

Not only do we offer exciting learning opportunities through the school day, we have a programme of clubs before and after the school day and at lunchtimes. We are proud of our many sporting achievements and display many trophy and certificates in our school reception area.

At The Meadow, we feel it is very important that home and school work closely together. Through a strong partnership we can share our expectations, develop understanding and celebrate your child’s successes.

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you to look around our vibrant, modern and well-resourced school. We are certain that you will be impressed by the welcoming atmosphere, happy children, and the high quality educational opportunities which are provided by our team of caring professionals.

Respectful

Being polite, listening and considering the views of others. Treating everyone the same no matter who they are.

Resilient

Not giving up, recovering from set-backs and trying our hardest at all times to do the best we can.

Kind

Being kind and friendly to everyone. Treating people how we want to be treated. Trying to make people smile.

A good team player

Being able to work with others, listening to different ideas and compromising. Seeing the importance of being a part of a team.

Courageous

Being brave enough to try new things, to make mistakes and to learn from them. The ability to face challenges and overcome them.

Sport

Pupils have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of activities in and out of school including cross country and athletics.

Music

Rocksteady Music – children have the opportunity to play different instruments, learning rhythm and melodies. All band members ‘Rock their socks off’ in their end of term concerts.

Forest School

We have a wonderful nature area which is used by children. During their time at The Meadow children will be able to participate in forest school activities such as denbuilding, making knots and camp fires.

Enrichment

With the backing of parents, the school engages in diverse educational excursions to locations like theatres, museums and other points of interest. A residential trip is organised providing a more immersive learning experience. Children are able to learn how to do activities such as archery, rock climbing, high ropes, kayaking and puzzle solving making a happy memorable school experience.

Wellbeing and Pastoral Support

We pride ourselves on our pastoral support from our ‘route to resilience’ approach with pupils nominating one another for demonstrating key characteristics, to our ELSA and School Counsellor. Pupil voice is key and we promote this through our School Council, subject ambassadors, playground leaders etc.

Bikeability

Helps our children to gain confidence, stay safe and enjoy the freedom of cycling.

Nutritious Fresh Prepared Meals

Our food is prepared on-site ensuring children eat healthy, balanced meals to support their learning.
