Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen is a bilingual school with a population of 875 pupils, 51 members of teaching staff and 34 support staff. We serve our local community which comprises of the town of Caernarfon and the surrounding rural areas.

Aim

Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen is committed to providing an outstanding education where all pupils are motivated to strive for success.

We aim to support pupils in achieving their potential across a range of academic and vocational subjects, focusing on the development of their skills in literacy, numeracy and information technology. We want all our pupils to leave school with the ability to compete in the world of work, in further education or higher education.

Ethos

The school is a very happy school, we are proud of the care and support given to our pupils.

Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen is a secondary school located in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, North Wales. The school was opened in 1894 and is named after the educator Sir Hugh Owen.The school currently has over 865 pupils and is run by Mr Paul G S Matthews-Jones. The school has many classes with pupils varied between the ages of 11-18. The school has a 6th form which allows children to stay in school for an extra 2 years instead of having to go to college.
