About Us

Our Lady of the Rosary School was built in 1955 and provides a Catholic education for children from 4 to 11 years of age.  It is situated in the north-west of the city of Bristol and primarily serves the local parish community and children from the neighbouring parish of St. Anthony's in Henbury and Sacred Heart in Westbury-on-Trym.

The school is a Catholic Voluntary Aided Primary School, under the trusteeship of the Diocese of Clifton.  We are immediately adjacent to the parish church of the same name.  We enjoy spacious and attractive surroundings, having separate Infant and Junior playgrounds and tree-lined playing fields.

In Summer 2009 we had our third Ofsted Inspection and were judged to be an ‘Outstanding’ school for the second time.

Our Vision

“Growing Together in Faith and Understanding”

Spiritual growth and academic growth go hand in hand throughout school life.

We celebrate a strong Catholic ethos which supports learning throughout the school. The welfare of staff, children and parents is paramount to the school’s vision and supported through the Catholic life of the School and the Church.

Pupils are supported in their journey to become confident individuals who celebrate their gifts from God and develop their independence and collaboration. Learning at Our Lady of the Rosary encourages investigation and reflection by the children, developing appropriate skills and attitudes which promote free informed choices and a full response to God’s call in everyday life.

Our vision is met by:

  • Building a community of support founded on Gospel Values.
  • Deepening our prayer life and relationship with God.
  • Ensuring that all members of the community are included and their uniqueness is valued and celebrated.
  • Ensuring all children aspire to reach their full potential.
  • Living our faith as leaders.
  • Preparing each child for their next step in life.
  • Keeping each child safe and ensuring they are all physically and mentally healthy.
  • Encouraging children to take risks with their learning and to be curious and resilient.

In addition, we acknowledge that the first educators in the faith are parents and the work of the school stands alongside the experience of faith in the home and in the parish. It enhances this experience and provides further opportunities for children to develop in faith through their participation in prayer, sacramental life and service of others.
