ABOUT THE TRUST

Striving for Excellence

Scholars Academy Trust is a unique and ambitious multi-academy Trust consisting of three primary schools in Leicestershire. As primary specialists, we are passionate about primary education, and we prioritise an excellent curriculum and pastoral opportunities that foster character development and ensure high standards for our inspiring children. Whilst retaining personalised relationships with our schools, we also possess the capacity to support and drive excellence across our trust family.

At Scholars, we are passionate about the distinctive role our schools play in serving their local communities. We strive for excellence by placing children at the centre of our collaborative decision-making processes, guided by our moral compass and unwavering commitment to shared responsibility. To achieve our mission, we establish strong partnerships with our headteachers, leadership teams, and local governing bodies. These partnerships ensure rigorous evaluation and support, enabling us to continuously strive for and achieve excellence for our children.

Each school within the Scholars Trust retains autonomy to localise and contextualise its curriculum and values, all while pursuing our shared mission of achieving excellence. By fostering effective professional relationships, offering support, and instilling a strong sense of trust, our schools successfully deliver high-quality education that every child deserves. We value and embrace the voices of our schools, staff, and communities, ensuring a continuous drive for improvement.

In our Trust, schools have access to a wealth of school-to-school support for whole-school improvement. Please refer to our regularly updated and adapted school improvement offer through this link to learn more about the support available to meet the unique needs of our schools.

"Striving for Excellence" is our guiding principle. We firmly believe that good professional development is vital for school improvement and succession planning. We provide professional development opportunities for teachers at various stages of their careers, including early careers teachers, middle leaders, subject leaders, senior leaders, and aspiring headteachers. Additionally, we offer CPD programs for teaching assistants, midday staff, and other support staff within our schools. Our commitment to excellence is delivered through the expertise of lead practitioners as well as credible external trainers. Staff across our schools are encouraged to collaborate and support one another in their pursuit of excellence in their practice.

OUR SCHOOLS

At Scholars we believe that schools with the Trust should retain their uniqueness as an establishment within its own local community thereby preserving the school ethos. However the main aim is to ensure that all pupils receive the best education possible to achieve their potential.

To achieve this aim, schools will retain their own headteacher and leadership team alongside a governing body who will hold school leaders to account. Schools on the whole remain largely autonomous but report to the Trust on school improvements and development. Schools within Scholars are partners who provide reciprocal service in ensuring the high quality education that all children deserve.

Schools in the Scholars Trust can access the following school-to-school support for whole school improvement:

  • Self-evaluation health check including: analysis and evaluation of whole-school approaches to self-evaluation; support for action planning; and identification of impact measures
  • Termly data and progress review supported by the senior leadership team of Scholars
  • Leaders and aspirant leaders working across the Trust to analyse and identify priorities for school improvement
  • Support and training for governors
  • Headteacher Performance Management including review and setting of targets, and monitoring achievement
  • Leadership development for staff through Scholars Trust
  • Professional development opportunities for all staff through Scholars Trust
  • Peer to peer collaboration supported through opportunities for teaching staff to take part joint development practice in addition to moderation across schools and sharing best practice
