Headteacher's Welcome
St Mary & St John is a very special place. As a Church of England primary school, the school has a distinctive ethos founded on Christian values. Set in the most beautiful grounds with stunning rural views across Rutland's Chater Valley, St Mary & St John provides a unique and inspiring learning environment in which our children flourish.
I am very proud of our school. It is a vibrant place, full of inquisitive, creative, happy and healthy children. Our amazing, dedicated and caring staff provide stimulating and well planned learning which meets the needs of every individual. Our curriculum is broad, balanced and enriched with extra learning opportunities. We have the highest expectations of both behaviour and academic achievement. We encourage our children to discover and maximise their talents, develop a true thirst for learning and the skills necessary to enable them to become lifelong learners, to realise their full academic, social and spiritual potential and become responsible citizens both within our community and the wider world.
Within the context of Christian belief and practice, every child in our school is nurtured within the love of God to feel safe and valued and to become a polite, caring and responsible member of our family community. Everyone is encouraged to make a positive contribution to all aspects of school life.
We value highly the partnership between home and school and encourage all parents to take an active part in the education of their children. The partnership between school staff, parents and governors is an essential one, and by working together we can provide a secure and first class education for every child.
Please explore our website, but better still, come and visit our school and experience the unique atmosphere we create, meet our wonderful children and staff and see our school in action. If you would like to arrange a visit, please contact the school office.
