Who do we support?

Located in Monmouth, Wales, Talocher School provides specialist education and care to boys and girls aged 7-19 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Re-integrating young people into the learning process

We understand that many of the young people who join us at Talocher School are very vulnerable and may have a history of interrupted education. We strive to re-integrate all our students into the learning process and achieve positive outcomes. We reward pupils in a visible way and the whole school shares an ethos of looking after young people with support, understanding and nurture.

Personalised teaching environments

The bespoke person-centred plans that we offer at Talocher School combine pastoral support, therapy and teaching with holistic learning, social groups and vocational and outdoor education. By keeping class sizes purposely small (max. five students per class), we can provide teaching environments that are tailored to the needs of individuals and so deliver the best possible outcomes.

Our Ethos Is Our Integrity

Our priority is the welfare, health and safety of our pupils. This is achieved by providing a consistently safe, secure, caring and compassionate environment. Our relational model, positive behaviour support approach and therapeutic framework encourages pupils to trust the adults around them, act responsibly, respectfully and independently. Our staff (Education Team) look to nurture, guide and provide positive educational opportunities that are child focused. This enables each individual to progress and flourish towards a positive future in a healthy, happy and enjoyable way.
