Valley View Community Primary school is a welcoming and successful primary school, situated in a spacious setting in the north west of Leeds. We serve the communities of Rodley, Farsley, Stanningley and Bramley. Ours is a happy, thriving school with enthusiastic, highly skilled staff dedicated to helping children to discover their talents and achieve their full potential. Visitors to the school always comment on the welcoming, caring environment. Children are happy to come to school and are well cared for in safe and secure surroundings.

All members of our school community are encouraged to show one another respect, demonstrating high standards of behaviour at all times. Assemblies and involvement in school, community and charity activities provide opportunities for pupils to develop their own spiritual values and beliefs and we are very proud of the respect which is reflected in all relationships at school.

The school is relatively new having opened its doors in 2006 for the first time. Since that time we have gone from strength to strength and now very well established within the local area and within Leeds as a city- so much so that in 2010 we were asked to undergo major building developments to allow us to accept up to 60 children per year rather than the previous 30.

We are very proud of our modern, spacious accommodation and have enjoyed extensive refurbishment over the years. All pupils leave the school as swimmers, learn an instrument and perform confidently acting and singing on stage! The school has access for disabled pupils. The grounds have playing fields and play ground areas providing excellent facilities for lots of sports clubs and sport tournaments each year. Classrooms are well equipped for whole class and group teaching and learning.

In planning the full coverage of the National Curriculum, high priority is given to enriching the curriculum. We ensure that wherever possible children see and learn through first hand experiences in and outside of the school environment.

Confident use of language in all its forms is important at our school. Children become confident and articulate young people and we offer lots of opportunities in a wide variety of settings for them to develop communication skills. Children who can communicate and express their ideas well are better able to read, write, calculate, research and explore, acquiring knowledge and life skills.

Care is taken to track pupil’s abilities and progress to help them reach their full potential and discover talents. Intervention programmes are carefully planned to help children catch up. Booster sessions are organised to enable children to excel and any additional or special educational needs are delivered by a team of experienced staff.

As soon as you enter our school, you will sense that it a special place to learn and to grow. Time after time we hear from visitors, staff and prospective families that there is a very real sense of belonging and of care. Our school has a strong family ethos and every individual who is a part of our school is important and valued. The school’s mission statement is ‘Enjoying Achieving and Learning Together’ and this is lived and breathed throughout our school.

The history of our school is unique and we are one of the youngest schools in Leeds. We opened our doors for the first time in September 2006 when as part of re-organisation of some Leeds schools, two schools were brought together to form Valley View. Since 2006, our school has gone from strength to strength and in 2010 we were delighted to be asked by the Local Authority to consider increasing our intake to 60 children per year in Reception. The Governors were delighted to accept this invitation and in summer 2011 we had extensive building works to allow us to become a two form entry primary school. Our Nursery opened in September 2015 and has allowed us to feel like a true community school, welcoming children (and their families) from the term after their third birthday to begin their learning journey with us.

We are very fortunate to have a huge building in very spacious grounds and we are surrounded by green fields. Our school has almost no passing traffic and we are able to take lots of learning opportunities outside and into the community.
