Welcome to Valley View Primary School

Valley_View__021.jpg

A successful, thriving, happy school in North West Leeds.

Community Primary School is a place where children and adults put into daily practice our mission statement of:

“Enjoying, achieving and learning together”

Our families, staff and whole community were delighted when, in October 2019, the Ofsted inspector reconfirmed what we all knew, which is that ours is a ‘good’ school.

Still relatively young in school terms, (we opened in September 2006), we have quickly earned a reputation as a school which builds strong partnerships with families, a school which offers high-quality teaching and learning for all children and a school which supports every child to develop and achieve through their formative years.

Prospective parents can find out more about the school on the Parents' page, and should you wish to visit, we would be delighted to meet you. You will hear much laughter and see smiling faces when you visit us, but you will also see excellent teaching and learning taking place in every part of the school.

It is a real privilege to serve this community and I am extremely proud to be the Headteacher at Valley View Community Primary School.

Mrs Sarah Griggs - Headteacher

Our Ethos

School Ethos

As soon as you enter our school, you will sense that it a special place to learn and to grow. Time after time we hear from visitors, staff and prospective families that there is a very real sense of belonging and of care. Our school has a strong family ethos and every individual who is a part of our school is important and valued. The school’s mission statement is ‘Enjoying Achieving and Learning Together’ and this is lived and breathed throughout our school.

Our ethos statements are:

  • Every individual in school is important and special and we will always strive to meet their needs
  • We will have a broad vision of learning where we value, enrich and develop all skills.
  • We will instil in children a love for life-long learning

The history of our school is unique and we are one of the youngest schools in Leeds. We opened our doors for the first time in September 2006 when as part of re-organisation of some Leeds schools, two schools were brought together to form Valley View. Since 2006, our school has gone from strength to strength and in 2010 we were delighted to be asked by the Local Authority to consider increasing our intake to 60 children per year in Reception. The Governors were delighted to accept this invitation and in summer 2011 we had extensive building works to allow us to become a two form entry primary school. Our Nursery opened in September 2015 and has allowed us to feel like a true community school, welcoming children (and their families) from the term after their third birthday to begin their learning journey with us.

We are very fortunate to have a huge building in very spacious grounds and we are surrounded by green fields. Our school has almost no passing traffic and we are able to take lots of learning opportunities outside and into the community.
