Welcome

A Church School

Welcome

Allerton CE Primary is a Church of England Voluntary Controlled school. We welcome children from all faiths and backgrounds and those of none. We have a vibrant, dynamic and diverse school community, with representatives from many cultures. This leads to a rich, colourful and exciting community.

In 2022-23 we have approximately 700 children on roll, with over 49 languages spoken. This includes a large thriving Nursery and 3 classes per year group throughout the rest of the school.

Allerton Church of England Primary is a hard working, creative and friendly school with incredibly supportive parents. I have been Headteacher here since we opened in 2007, so this community really matters to me and to the staff here.

Our extensive school grounds enable us to plan many opportunities for learning, which have been enhanced by Forest School training, apple press and on-site composter. We love to garden, grow things, create outdoor sculptures and use our natural environment as well as our fort, fire pit, ampitheatre, pizza oven, Multi-Use Games Area, orchard and more.

We aim to keep our premises up to date, with our own purpose built Arts space, Café/Cooking room, and Nurture space.

Summer 2022 saw our beautiful sensory room installed on the site. Looking rather like a fairy tale building outside, this will be further enhanced with a sensory garden surrounding the wooden building.

We have invested heavily in our Early Years, with our impressive purpose built outdoor area.

Inspired by a childhood love of the world of Narnia; 2022 saw the opening of our truly inspirational Library, which is a real wow. Definitely worth seeing and spending some time in there, as we seek to instil a real love for books.

Our March 2022 Arts Mark Platinum Status and Arts partnerships, enable us to provide quality experiences and provision for our pupils. Our Early Years provision extends from our 2 year old setting up to Reception. Come and see what is on offer, as the children are happy and settled and we would love to welcome you too. Our entrance is shared with the Alwoodley Children’s Centre, which is sited within the same building. Co-location has enabled really strong partnership working.

A Passion for Learning

We are passionate about learning and aim for every child to have a happy and active primary education in an environment that is caring and supportive. We provide a stimulating and structured environment in which all children are encouraged to reach their full potential. We treat all our pupils individually, developing their sense of worth and confidence and encourage unique talents to flourish in every child.

We want our children to really love learning. We want our children to be passionate about what they do. We want to work in partnership with you, our parents, as this is key to success.

Please look at the Gallery page, as well as the class Blogs, which give an insight in to some of the work that we do here.

Pride

I look forward to sharing our school life and work with you and as part of that, am incredibly proud to have been awarded the Headteacher of the Year in a Primary School 2022, as part of the Pearson National Teaching Awards.

Values, Vision and Ethos

As a school community we have spent time working on our Vision. It was important to us that this Vision was not just about the children but about all those who are involved with Allerton CE Primary. So when we refer to US, OUR and WE...it means all of us.

Our agreed 20/20 Vision

At Allerton CE Primary, we work towards a world where we love, learn and flourish.

We will achieve this by developing children to have helping hands, an enquiring mind, an open heart, a resilient spirit, a sense of wonder and to take responsible steps.

We are driven by our values of faith, community, inspiration and action.

We are a “Voluntary Controlled Church of England Primary School”. This means that the school is maintained by the Local Education Authority, and enjoys strong links with the Church and Diocese.
