Visitors comment that our school has a great feel and provides a lovely, supportive and positive environment within which children flourish. Our pupils are well behaved and on task in lessons.

Developments over recent years have ensured that pupil achievement is normally above local and national averages in every stage of the school. Our most recent outcomes data from July 2019 confirmed that this is still the case. Our popularity in the Bilton area is strong and we are lucky to have very supportive families who are willing to work with us for the benefit of their children.

Our most recent, and very successful, Ofsted Inspection recognised the high standards that exist: –

“The headteacher has high expectations of pupils and staff. As a result pupils’ outcomes, and the quality of teaching, are good. In both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils make good progress in reading, writing, mathematics and a wide range of other subjects. Pupils enjoy their learning. Interesting tasks, both indoors and outdoors, enable pupils to be creative when solving problems. Pupils attitudes to learning are good and they are keen to learn. Pupils manage their conduct well both inside and outside the classroom. ” (OfSTED May 2016)

Aims and Ethos

Every school needs to have a clear set of aims and ethos in order to pursue excellence.

Below you’ll find an outline of ours which will show you the educational model that we strive for.

Aims and Ethos

Our Vision for Bilton Community Primary School

In our school education is about children experiencing the power of discovery, solving problems, and being creative and successful in subjects across the primary curriculum. They will do this whilst developing their self confidence and independence as learners.

We will combine high standards with a broad and rich curriculum. Progression will be clear within each subject and our pupils will work in a safe, secure, supportive and stimulating environment.

Our school will drive its own improvement, to set its own challenging targets recognising the need to continually develop.

Learning will be focused on individual pupil’s needs and abilities. We will develop assessment for learning which enables knowledge about each child to inform the way that they are taught and how they learn.

The staff team will provide a sensitive and individual approach to support all children, especially those with special educational needs and those who are disadvantaged. We will give extra support to the children that need it most, including those who are more-able.

We will build a partnership with parents by providing clear, good quality communication and information. We will involve them, and the local community, in the life of the school.

We will use the outdoor environment, local and beyond, to enhance our pupils’ learning opportunities. There will be many out of school visits and a range of visitors coming into school to enrich teaching and learning.

Recognising the demands on families we will provide high quality, professional child care both before and after school.

All adults in our school will promote high standards of conduct through their actions and by teaching positive behaviour, self discipline and a sense of responsibility to our pupils. A clear system of rewards and sanctions will underpin this.

We will include every child and offer them, whatever their individual characteristics and background, the chance to achieve their full potential, thereby laying the foundations for future learning and success in life.
