Welcome From The Headteacher

"We aim to be an outstanding primary academy, respected for its creative and community-based approach that enthuses children and enables them to reach above and beyond expectations"

On behalf of all the children, staff and trustees, I am delighted to introduce you to Birdwell Primary School Academy. It is a great privilege to be the Head Teacher here, and I am very proud of the achievements and progress our children make each day.

I joined Birdwell in January 2011. Since then, the school has increased its capacity in response to the growing needs of our local community, and we now support 420 children as well as having a new nursery building, allowing us to welcome children from age 3 to 11.

We are a stand-alone academy, which means that I, together with the Board of Trustees (governors), are fully responsible for the decisions that affect our school. All of our decision-making focuses on supporting children to reach their potential and become happy, enthusiastic and lifelong learners. We put our children, staff, families and local community first, and I am proud of how well our team work together.

We are very lucky at Birdwell to have lots of space. Our classrooms are light and airy, and we have room for separate playground spaces as well as our forest school, woodland area, sports pitches, school field and hard courts.

At Birdwell we support children to become independent learners through our broad and balanced curriculum. Our teaching is vibrant and engaging, and we aim to create a learning environment that ensures our children have access to high quality resources that enable them to have the best possible start to their educational journey.

Throughout the school we want our children to enjoy a wide range of opportunities which bring the curriculum to life and make learning fun. Whenever we can, we ensure our children are given access to a wide variety of opportunities including many trips and exciting visitors to experiencing unusual and memorable moments!

All of our staff are passionate and work hard to ensure the best possible quality of education for the children in every year group. We regularly celebrate children’s successes and achievements – a testament to the hard work of our pupils, our curriculum and the ongoing support we receive from our parents and the community beyond.

I am very proud of our school and everything we do here. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require further information or would like to see us in action. I am always very happy to show visitors around.
